Impact of Antenna Correlation on a New Dual-Hop MIMO AF Relaying Model

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2010
A novel system model is proposed for the dual-hop multiple-input multiple-output amplify-andforward relay networks, and the impact of antenna correlation on the performance is studied.

A logic-based tractable approximation of probability

open access: yesJournal of Logic and Computation, 2022
AbstractWe provide a logical framework in which a resource-bounded agent can be seen to perform approximations of probabilistic reasoning. Our main results read as follows. First, we identify the conditions under which propositional probability functions can be approximated by a hierarchy of depth-bounded belief functions.

Survey on the Numerical Methods for ODE's Using the Sequence of Successive Approximations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Here we present the error estimations in the numerical methods for Cauchy problems corresponding to ODE’s, which use the sequence of successive approximations and quadrature rules such as trapezoidal rule and perturbed trapezoidal ...

Robust Sequential Testing of Hypotheses on Discrete Probability Distributions

open access: yesAustrian Journal of Statistics, 2016
The paper is devoted to analysis of approximations of the models in sequential hypotheses testing and to construction of new robust sequential test under the distortions presented by mixtures of probability distributions.

Nuclear interactions at volume reflection: Perturbative treatment

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2012
Excess of nuclear interaction probability at volume reflection is evaluated within the approximation of dominance of the continuous planar potential and thin nuclear concentrations. The domain of the adopted approximations is determined.

A comparison of approximations to percentiles of the noncentral chi2-distribution

open access: yesRevista de Matemática: Teoría y Aplicaciones, 2009
Various approximations to percentiles of the noncentral 2-distribution are examined for their accuracy over a wide range of values of the parameters of the distribution. Keywords: Probability distribution, percentiles, numerical approximation.

An Approximation to the Probability Integral

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1946
It is shown that $\frac{1}{\sqrt{2\pi}} \int_{-x}^x e^{-\frac{1}{2}t^2} dt \geq \lbrack 1 - e^{-(2/\pi)x^2}\rbrack^\frac{1}{2}$ and that the equality is never in error by as much as three-fourths of one percent. Other approximations are discussed.

Approximating the Tail Probability of the t-Distribution: A Bayesian Approach

open access: yesSultan Qaboos University Journal for Science, 2001
A Bayesian technique is used to approximate the tail probability of the t-distribution. A set of upper and lower bounds are obtained for this probability. Based on their simplicity and accuracy, these bounds are very adequate to use.

Matrix Integral Approach to MIMO Mutual Information Statistics in High-SNR Regime

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
In this work, an analytical framework for deriving the exact moments of multiple-input- multiple-output (MIMO) mutual information in the high-signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime is proposed.

On the Distribution of the Information Density of Gaussian Random Vectors: Explicit Formulas and Tight Approximations

open access: yesEntropy, 2022
Based on the canonical correlation analysis, we derive series representations of the probability density function (PDF) and the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the information density of arbitrary Gaussian random vectors as well as a general ...
