Simulation of the electrohydrodynamic instability process used in the fabrication of hierarchic and hollow micro/nanostructures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This article demonstrates that the electrohydrodynamic patterning process, a novel technique for the manufacturing of micro-and nano-scale structures, also allows the one-step realization of hierarchical structures and hollow structures.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Research on the Coupling and Coordination of Land Ecological Security and High-Quality Agricultural Development in the Han River Basin

open access: yesLand
This study aims to investigate the coupling and harmonization between land ecological security (LES) and high-quality agricultural development (HAD) in the Han River Basin (HRB), China, with the objective of promoting harmonious coexistence between ...

Cryogenic process simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Combining accurate fluid property databases with a commercial equation-solving software package running on a desktop computer allows simulation of cryogenic processes without extensive computer programming. Computer simulation can be a powerful tool for process development or optimization.

Uniform approximation of the Cox-Ingersoll-Ross process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The Doss-Sussmann (DS) approach is used for uniform simulation of the Cox-Ingersoll-Ross (CIR) process. The DS formalism allows to express trajectories of the CIR process through solutions of some ordinary differential equation (ODE) depending on ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

The Impact of Urban Labor Skill Structure on Industrial Evolution in China and Its Heterogeneity from the Perspective of Cross-Relatedness

open access: yesRedai dili
Industry and occupation are closely interwoven. Focusing solely on industrial structure cannot adequately address regional development challenges. Multifactor cross-relatedness provides a theoretical foundation for understanding the interplay between ...

Physical modelling of amorphous thermoplastic polymer and numerical simulation of micro hot embossing process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Micro hot embossing process is considered as one of the most promising micro replication processes for manufacturing of polymeric components, especially for the high aspect ratio components and large surface structural components.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.
