Stronger memory representation after memory reinstatement during retrieval in the human hippocampus

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2022
Memory retrieval allows us to reinstate previously encoded information but is also considered to contribute to memory enhancement. Retrieval-induced enhancement may involve processing to strengthen memory traces, but neural processing beyond ...

Low-Overhead General-Purpose Near-Data Processing in CXL Memory Expanders [PDF]

open access: yesMicro
Emerging Compute Express Link (CXL) enables cost-efficient memory expansion beyond the local DRAM of processors. While its CXL.mem protocol provides minimal latency overhead through an optimized protocol stack, frequent CXL memory accesses can result in ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

A Genetic Algorithm Accelerator Based on Memristive Crossbar Array for Massively Parallel Computation

open access: yesIEEE Access
Genetic algorithm (GA) has been extensively used for solving complex problems. Due to a high computational burden of finding solutions using GA, acceleration with hardware support has been a choice. In this paper, a GA accelerator based on the processing-

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Energy-efficient and fast memristor-based serial multipliers applicable in image processing

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Computation-in-memory (CIM) is a promising technique for overcoming the Von-Neumann bottleneck. Applying memristors in CIM reduces data transfer between processor and memory. Memristive CIM reduces energy consumption and processing time of data-intensive

Stochastic accumulation of feature information in perception and memory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
It is now well established that the time course of perceptual processing influences the first second or so of performance in a wide variety of cognitive tasks.

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Awake, Offline Processing during Associative Learning. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Offline processing has been shown to strengthen memory traces and enhance learning in the absence of conscious rehearsal or awareness. Here we evaluate whether a brief, two-minute offline processing period can boost associative learning and test a memory
