A 3D Human Bone and Bone Marrow‐on‐a‐Chip Model for In Vitro Bone Remodeling and Immune Cell Maintenance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a human Bone (and Bone Marrow)‐on‐a‐Chip model based on native human bone scaffolds and autologous cells. Dynamic perfusion and sequential cell seeding replicate the physiological bone remodeling process in vitro, enabling the long‐term culture of functional, mature bone marrow immune subpopulations.

Renaturation of disulfide‐linked procollagen [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Supramolecular Structure, 1974
AbstractDisulfide‐linked, triple‐stranded procollagen (pro γ 112) was isolated from chick embryo skull bones. It was reversibly denatured and renatured as judged by sedimentation properties and susceptibility to digestion with pepsin. Refolding was an intramolecular process and aggregation between molecules did not occur.

Procollagen Lysyl Hydroxylase 2 is Essential for Hypoxia-Induced Breast Cancer Metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Cancer Research, 2013
Metastasis is the leading cause of death among patients who have breast cancer. Understanding the role of the extracellular matrix (ECM) in the metastatic process may lead to the development of improved therapies to treat patients with cancer ...

MASH Background Confers Enhanced Disease Susceptibility and Acetaminophen Toxicity in iPSC‐Derived Liver Organoids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work establishes a novel method for generating multicellular liver organoids from control and MASH donor iPSCs. The model recapitulates several disease‐specific characteristics, with MASH donor‐derived organoids showing higher susceptibility. Lipidomic profiling of MASH organoids closely resembles MASH liver biopsies.

A molecular ensemble in the rER for procollagen maturation.

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta, 2013
Extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins create structural frameworks in tissues such as bone, skin, tendon and cartilage etc. These connective tissues play important roles in the development and homeostasis of organs.

Amuc_1473 Links Gut Microbes to Skeletal Homeostasis and Counteracts Multifactorial Osteoporosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Amuc_1473, a previously uncharacterized protein enriched in Akkermansia muciniphila‐derived extracellular vesicles, is identified as a gut–bone messenger that promotes osteogenesis and inhibits osteoclastogenesis by engaging transcriptional and translational regulators in bone cells.

Dasatinib Attenuates Fibrosis in Keloids by Decreasing Senescent Cell Burden

open access: yesActa Dermato-Venereologica, 2023
Keloids are skin tumours caused by aberrant growth of dermal fibroblasts. Cellular senescence contributes to aging and various pathological conditions, including cancer, atherosclerosis, and fibrotic diseases.

THBS1+ Macrophages Exacerbate Modic Changes via SDC4‐Dependent Activation of NLRP3 Inflammasome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The illustration of THBS1+ macrophages exacerbate MCs via SDC4‐dependent activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome. THBS1+ macrophage subpopulation was identified in MCs through single‐cell RNA sequencing. C. acnes and its metabolites activate THBS1 expression in macrophages via the TLR signaling pathway.

Hypothalamic Control of Liver Health and Disease: From Circuits to Pathophysiology and Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review delineates the hypothalamic circuits that control liver homeostasis via autonomic and neuroendocrine pathways. Dysregulation of this hypothalamus–liver axis drives disease progression across a spectrum including steatotic liver disease, liver inflammation and injury, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma.
