The procollagen N-proteinases ADAMTS2, 3 and 14 in pathophysiology.

open access: yesMatrix Biology, 2015
Collagen fibers are the main components of most of the extracellular matrices where they provide a structural support to cells, tissues and organs. Fibril-forming procollagens are synthetized as individual chains that associate to form homo- or hetero ...

Lentinula edodes extract inhibits matrix metalloproteinase expression and increases type I procollagen expression via the p38 MAPK/c-Fos signaling pathway in ultraviolet A and B-irradiated HaCaT keratinocytes

open access: yesAsian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine, 2021
Objective: To determine the effect of Lentinula edodes extract on ultraviolet (UV) A and UVB-induced changes in matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) and type I procollagen expression using human immortalized HaCaT keratinocytes.

Specific hepatic delivery of procollagen α1(I) siRNA in lipid-like nanoparticles resolves liver fibrosis

open access: yesHepatology, 2015
Fibrosis accompanies the wound‐healing response to chronic liver injury and is characterized by excessive hepatic collagen accumulation dominated by collagen type I. Fibrosis often progresses to cirrhosis. Here we present in vivo evidence of an up to 90%

Data comparing the kinetics of procollagen type I processing by bone morphogenetic protein 1 (BMP-1) with and without procollagen C-proteinase enhancer 1 (PCPE-1)

open access: yesData in Brief, 2016
This article provides kinetic constants for C-terminal processing of procollagen type I by bone morphogenetic protein 1 (BMP-1; the major procollagen C-proteinase), a reaction stimulated by the connective tissue glycoprotein procollagen C-proteinase ...

Atrial Tissue Pro‐Fibrotic M2 Macrophage Marker CD163+, Gene Expression of Procollagen and B‐Type Natriuretic Peptide

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2020
Background Atrial tissue fibrosis is linked to inflammatory cells, yet is incompletely understood. A growing body of literature associates peripheral blood levels of the antifibrotic hormone BNP (B‐type natriuretic peptide) with atrial fibrillation (AF).

Jatrorrhizine Isolated from Phellodendron amurense Improves Collagen Homeostasis in CCD-986sk Human Dermal Fibroblast Cells

open access: yesCosmetics
Jatrorrhizine is one of the major bioactive compounds found in Phellodendron amurense. Previous studies have reported various health benefits of jatrorrhizine, but little is known about its effect on skin health.

Structural implications from an electronmicroscopic comparison of procollagen V with procollagen I, pC-collagen I, procollagen IV, and a Drosophila procollagen.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1982
Chick embryo procollagen V, procollagen I, and pC-collagen I were sprayed, rotary shadowed, and compared electronmicroscopically with mouse procollagen IV and Drosophila procollagen produced by cell cultures and prepared in the same way. All the molecules appeared as threads and had a prominent knob protrusion at one end.

Dynamic Mechanical Loading Modulates Extracellular Vesicle Production and Cargo in Meniscus Fibrochondrocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Dynamic mechanical loading of outer meniscus fibrochondrocytes increases extracellular vesicle (EV) yield and alters EV composition. When applied to progenitor cells, these mechanically primed EVs modulate the expression of matrix‐related genes.

Phosphatidylserine prevents UV-induced decrease of type I procollagen and increase of MMP-1 in dermal fibroblasts and human skin in vivo

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2008
In an effort to find topical agents that prevent or retard cutaneous aging, seven functional lipids were screened for their procollagen-upregulating and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-1-downregulating activities in human dermal fibroblasts by Western ...

Validation of COL11A1/procollagen 11A1 expression in TGF-β1-activated immortalised human mesenchymal cells and in stromal cells of human colon adenocarcinoma

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2014
BackgroundThe human COL11A1 gene has been shown to be up-regulated in stromal cells of colorectal tumours, but, so far, the immunodetection of procollagen 11A1, the primary protein product of COL11A1, has not been studied in detail in human colon ...
