Gasdermin‐Mediated Pyroptosis: Novel Strategies Against Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Pyroptosis is a double‐edged sword in colorectal cancer (CRC): chronic low‐grade pyroptosis promotes tumor progression, whereas acute induction of pyroptosis in cancer cells triggers antitumor immunity and enhances therapeutic response. Targeting gasdermin‐mediated pyroptosis represents a promising strategy for CRC treatment.

Prodrugs for Amines [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2008
The purpose of this work is to review the published strategies for the productionof prodrugs of amines. The review is divided in two main groups of approaches: those thatrely on enzymatic activation and those that take advantage of physiological chemicalconditions for release of the drugs.

Prodrugs in medicinal chemistry and enzyme prodrug therapies

Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, 2017
Prodrugs are cunning derivatives of therapeutic agents designed to improve the pharmacokinetics profile of the drug. Within a prodrug, pharmacological activity of the drug is masked and is recovered within the human body upon bioconversion of the prodrug, a process that is typically mediated by enzymes.
