The development of responsibility in product designers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Investigations of ethics in product design have been limited. This paper offers an insight into designer's perceptions of responsibilities over three levels of expertise; first year design students, graduating design students, and design practitioners ...

An Adaptive Design Methodology for Reduction of Product Development Risk

open access: yes, 2011
Embedded systems interaction with environment inherently complicates understanding of requirements and their correct implementation. However, product uncertainty is highest during early stages of development.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Product design

open access: yesAnd, 2014
La creazione di un concept per un brand o di un progetto di interior design spesso richiede anche il progetto di singoli elementi di arredo o di illuminazione.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Modified A-Star Algorithm for Efficient Coverage Path Planning in Tetris Inspired Self-Reconfigurable Robot with Integrated Laser Sensor

open access: yesSensors, 2018
Advancing an efficient coverage path planning in robots set up for application such as cleaning, painting and mining are becoming more crucial. Such drive in the coverage path planning field proposes numerous techniques over the past few decades. However,

Design for manufacture and sustainability in new product development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Design for manufacture is well recognised by industry and is about optimising design to aid production. Today there is a significant and growing trend of recognising what happens to a product once its user phase has finished.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Integration of end-of-life options as a design criterion in methods and tools for ecodesign [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Ecodesigning a product consists (amongst other things) in assessing what its environmental impacts will be throughout its life (that is to say from its design phase to its end of life), in order to limit them.
