Recurrence Relations for Marginal and Joint Moment Generating Functions of Generalized Order Statistics from a New Class of Pareto Distributions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA), 2016
In this paper, we establish some recurrence relations for marginal and joint moment generating functions of generalized order statistics from a new class of Pareto distributions.

Product of Ginibre matrices: Fuss-Catalan and Raney distributions

open access: yes, 2011
Squared singular values of a product of s square random Ginibre matrices are asymptotically characterized by probability distribution P_s(x), such that their moments are equal to the Fuss-Catalan numbers or order s.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Inverse power XLindley distribution with statistical inference and applications to engineering data

open access: yesScientific Reports
In this article, a new two-parameter distribution is constructed using the inverse transformation technique on the power XLindley distribution. It is called the inverse power XLindley distribution. As an attractive property, it can generate symmetric and

Strong invariance and noise-comparison principles for some parabolic stochastic PDEs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We consider a system of interacting diffusions on the integer lattice. By letting the mesh size go to zero and by using a suitable scaling, we show that the system converges (in a strong sense) to a solution of the stochastic heat equation on the real ...

On high moments of strongly diluted large Wigner random matrices

open access: yes, 2015
We consider a dilute version of the Wigner ensemble of nxn random matrices $H$ and study the asymptotic behavior of their moments $M_{2s}$ in the limit of infinite $n$, $s$ and $\rho$, where $\rho$ is the dilution parameter.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

On the Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida interaction in graphene

open access: yes, 2012
The two dimensionality plus the linear band structure of graphene leads to new behavior of the Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida (RKKY) interaction, which is the interaction between two magnetic moments mediated by the electrons of the host crystal. We study
