Diversity, Difference and Diversity Management: A Contextual and Interview Study of Managers and Ethnic Minority Employees in Finland and France [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In many countries diversity management has become an increasingly common way of treating differences between people in the world of work. Companies may sign diversity charters to show their engagement in promoting diversity, design and implement ...

PGK1 enhances productive bovine herpesvirus 1 infection by stimulating β-catenin-dependent transcription

open access: yesVeterinary Research
Bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) productive infection stimulates β-catenin-dependent transcription to facilitate virus replication. Phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1), which catalyses the initial step of ATP production during glycolysis, also has a ...

A simple and rapid method for generating antibodies against bovine alphaherpesvirus 1 viral proteins through immunization with virus-infected murine cells

open access: yesBiochemistry and Biophysics Reports
Bovine alphaherpesvirus 1 (BoAHV-1) infects cattle and typically results in significant economic losses for the cattle industry worldwide. Currently, antibodies targeting only a limited number of viral proteins are commercially available.

Gene refashioning through innovative shifting of reading frames in mosses

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Extant representatives of the earliest land plant lineages adapt to various terrestrial habitats with structural and physiological innovations. Here the authors show a dual-coding gene in the moss Physcomitrella patens evolved from a hemerythrin gene ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Productivity, agglomeration, and diversity

open access: yesInvestigaciones Regionales - Journal of Regional Research
This paper analyzes how territorial conditions influence the productivity of manufacturing and service firms in Ecuador. We employ multilevel models to estimate the effects of the urban population share and regional sectoral diversity on total factor productivity and labor productivity, also incorporating the moderating role of innovation.

Evaluation of the impact of olive fruit fly (Bactrocera oleae [Gmelin, 1790], Diptera: Tephritidae) infestation on olive grove in Biskra (Algeria)

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica
Olive production is important to Algeria's economy and ecology, its cultivation has expanded significantly in recent years in Biskra region, increasing both area and production, with olive varieties that adapt well to local conditions.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Bio-processing of canola straw into animal feed by co-ensiling with alfalfa for sustainable feed and agricultural systems

open access: yesChemical and Biological Technologies in Agriculture
Backgroud Transforming low-value agricultural byproducts into high-value animal feed, holds significant potential for advancing circular food systems. In this study, we aim to explore the effect of co-ensiling canola straw with alfalfa on feed quality ...
