TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

A production planning model for an aluminum company

open access: yes, 1994
In this paper, we present a real life case study of the design of a multi-product, multi-stage, multi-period production planning model for an aluminum company. The objective of the model is to obtain an optimal operational policy that minimizes the total

Smart Postharvest Management of Strawberries: YOLOv8-Driven Detection of Defects, Diseases, and Maturity

open access: yesAgriEngineering
Strawberries are highly perishable fruits prone to postharvest losses due to defects, diseases, and uneven ripening. This study proposes a deep learning-based approach for automated quality assessment using the YOLOv8n object detection model.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Processes involved in mobilization of phosphorus in different farming systems in Southwestern Ontario: Nutrient levels in plant tissues and soils

open access: yes, 1991
The effects of the application of different types of phosphorus-containing fertilizers (rock P, super phosphate and compost) were examined on six different farms in order to identify some of the critical parameters for the mobilization of phosphate.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
