A Microprocessor Based Inertial Profilometer
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1983Abstract The paper describes the design of an inertial profilometer for recording track geometry irregularities in vertical and lateral plane. The design can be implemented around a commonly available microprocessor yielding a portable inertial profilometer for railways.

Abstract A simple optical profilometer is described for the measurement of surface profiles. The device is based on the use of a photodiode array that allows a fast examination of the surface and a high sensitivity. It also overcomes the randomness requirements which limit the use of optical devices working on angular diagram or speckle correlation ...

Ultrahigh accuracy 3-D profilometer
Applied Optics, 1987An ultrahigh accuracy 3-D profilometer using a laser heterodyne interferometer has been developed. The profiles of aspheric lenses and their molds have been measured. It can measure not only the rectangular coordinates but also the polar coordinates of the surface profile.

Accuracy and resolution of a dynamic-speckle profilometer
Applied Optics, 2006We propose and demonstrate a new technique for fast noncontact and continuous profile measurement of a rough surface. The technique is based on frequency tracking of the power modulation of spatially filtered scattered light. A dynamic speckle pattern is created when the laser beam scans the surface under study.

Polarized Optical Heterodyne Profilometer
Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1998A quasi common path polarized optical heterodyne interferometer with an aluminum coated polarized beam splitter is proposed in order to sense the surface profile. The heterodyned P wave is generated by two acousto-optic modulated P waves with different frequencies in the Mach-Zehnder interferometer. So is the heterodyned S wave.

Fabrication of an Optical Heterodyne Profilometer
Optical Fabrication and Testing, 1988An optical heterodyne profilometer was fabricated for the measurement of surface roughness. Briefly, when two beams of slightly different frequencies are reflected from two different points on the surface, the phase of the resulting sinusoidal interference signal is related to the height difference between the two points, whose absolute value is ...

Industrial Applications Of An Optical Profilometer
SPIE Proceedings, 1989This paper describes a commercial optical profilometer, the UB 60, and several of its industrial applications. The operating principle of the instrument is based on the dynamic focussing of a confocal microscope, a technique adapted from known CD player technology.

Angle-deviation optical profilometer
Chinese Optics Letters, 2011We propose a new optical profilometer for three-dimensional (3D) surface profile measurement in real time. The deviation angle is based on geometrical optics and is proportional to the apex angle of a test plate. Measuring the reflectivity of a parallelogram prism allows detection of the deviation angle when the beam is incident at the nearby critical ...
