Lipids of Leishmania Promastigotes
The Journal of Parasitology, 1979A chromatographic analysis of lipids of cultured promastigotes of Leishmania donovani, L. braziliensis, L. mexicana, L. tropica, L. enriettii, L. hertigi, L. adleri, and L. tarentolae showed that total lipids were 2--15% of dry wt, and neutral and polar lipids were 14--55% and 45--86% of total lipids.

Promastigote infectivity inLeishmania infantum
Parasitology Research, 1991Different clones and subpopulations of clones of Leishmania infantum were analyzed for their infective potential in vitro. Infectivity for macrophage-like cells (P388D1) and the response to a challenge with normal human serum enabled a clear differentiation between infective and non/low-infective populations. The results were confirmed by determination

Binding ofLeishmania promastigotes to macrophages
Zeitschrift fr Parasitenkunde Parasitology Research, 1983Leishmania tropica promastigotes are easily attached to and engulfed by C3H peritoneal macrophages in vitro at 37 degrees C. Different sugars at 0.3-0.5 M inhibited in vitro the attachment of L. tropica promastigotes to C3H peritoneal macrophages with lactose (Gal-beta [1 leads to 4]Glc) being the most efficient.

Leishmania tarentolae: Proline anabolism in promastigotes
Experimental Parasitology, 1976Abstract Using 14C-labeled substrates in conjunction with thin-layer Chromatographic radioautography, studies were done to determine the precursors for proline synthesis utilized by promastigotes of Leishmania tarentolae. The only substances in Trager's Defined Medium capable of acting as proline precursors under the conditions studied were l ...
