Near-Limb Zeeman and Hanle Diagnostics

open access: yes, 2013
"Weak" magnetic-field diagnostics in faint objects near the bright solar disk are discussed in terms of the level of non-object signatures, in particular, of the stray light in telescopes.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Statistical Analyses of Solar Prominences and Active Region Features in 304 Å Filtergrams Detected via Deep Learning

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
Solar active regions (ARs) are areas on the Sun with very strong magnetic fields where various activities take place. Prominences are one of the typical solar features in the solar atmosphere, whose eruptions often lead to solar flares and coronal mass ...

Tfap2a-dependent changes in mouse facial morphology result in clefting that can be ameliorated by a reduction in Fgf8 gene dosage

open access: yesDisease Models & Mechanisms, 2015
Failure of facial prominence fusion causes cleft lip and palate (CL/P), a common human birth defect. Several potential mechanisms can be envisioned that would result in CL/P, including failure of prominence growth and/or alignment as well as a failure of

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Source Regions of Coronal Mass Ejections

open access: yes, 2001
Observations of the solar corona with the Large Angle Spectrometric Coronograph (LASCO) and Extreme ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (EIT) instruments on the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) provide an unprecedented opportunity to study coronal ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Structure and Dynamics of Erupting Solar Prominences Using the Rolling Hough Transform: Toward a Feature-oriented Classification

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The classification of solar prominences has proven to be challenging, due to their diverse morphologies and dynamical behavior. Complexity is heightened when considering eruptive prominences, where the dynamics demand methods capable of capturing ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

High-resolution Observation of Solar Prominence Plumes Induced by Enhanced Spicular Activity

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Solar prominences are the most prominent large-scale structures observed above the solar limb in emission in chromospheric lines but in absorption in coronal lines. At the bottom of prominences often appears a bubble, with plumes occasionally rising from
