Background. Abdominoperineal resection (APR) has been associated with impaired survival in nonmetastatic rectal cancer patients. It is unclear whether this adverse outcome is due to the surgical procedure itself or is a consequence of tumor-related ...

Background This research examined the use of the propensity score method to compare proxy-completed responses to self-completed responses in the first three baseline cohorts of the Medicare Health Outcomes Survey, administered in 1998, 1999, and 2000 ...

An overview of the objectives of and the approaches to propensity score analyses [PDF]
The assessment of treatment effects from observational studies may be biased with patients not randomly allocated to the experimental or control group. One way to overcome this conceptual shortcoming in the design of such studies is the use of propensity

Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Covariate adjusted nonparametric methods under propensity analysis
Propensity score is one of the most commonly used score functions in adjusting for covariates effect in statistical inference. It is important to understand the impact with propensity score in case some of the prespecified covariates are severely ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Safety, adherence and efficacy of PCSK9 inhibitors: a retrospective real-world study
Introduction PCSK9 inhibitors demonstrated their effectiveness in reducing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and cardiovascular events in landmark trials. It remains unclear whether the results can be translated to Asian populations. This study

An Adjustment of Survey Data Using Propensity Score Weighting
This study proposes the adoption of a neural network as an alternative to logistic regression analysis, which is conventionally used to estimate the propensity score (Rosenbaum & Rubin, 1983). Moreover, covariates that are frequently obscured are presented.Considering the response pattern to a mail survey by random sampling as a criterion, we examined ...

Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
