Karyotyping and Distribution Patterns of Endemic Chinese Lilies: Insights Into Their Conservation Under Climate Change

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study integrates cytogenetic and ecological analyses of two endemic Chinese alpine lilies, Lilium lophophorum (2n = 24) and L. nanum (2n = 48), to establish a foundational understanding of their chromosomal diversity and distribution patterns. We document substantial intraspecific karyotypic variation in diploid L.

Alpha‐Ketoglutarate Regulates Intestinal Motility and Health by OXGR1 in Nitrergic Neuron of Enteric Nervous System

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Intestinal health could be affected by intestinal motility, which is controlled by the enteric nervous system. In this study, we found that α‐ketoglutarate (AKG) inhibits intestinal motility and improves intestinal permeability, accompanied by an increased count of intestinal flora.

Pd(II) Complexes of Schiff Base Ligands Derived From 4‐Aminoantipyrine: Synthesis, Characterization, Crystal Structure and Acute Toxicity Evaluation

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 1, 8 January 2026.
Palladium(II) complexes (1–6) with Schiff bases (HL1–HL6) were synthesized and characterized using different spectroscopic methods. The molecular structures of ligands HL1, HL3, HL6 and complexes 1, 2, 3, 6 were determined by X‐ray diffraction analysis. The toxicity of the compounds was assessed on both plant and animal cells.

Diagnosis of Paralytic Rabies by Metagenomics Next‐Generation Sequencing: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
This case report demonstrates the successful diagnosis of a challenging paralytic rabies case using metagenomic next‐generation sequencing (mNGS). mNGS provided a rapid and precise pathogen identification directly from cerebrospinal fluid where traditional methods failed.

YKT6 Is Essential for Male Fertility by Promoting Meiosis Progression During Spermatogenesis of Mice

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 59, Issue 1, January 2026.
Specifically ablating Ykt6 in pre‐meiotic germ cells and meiotic spermatocytes leads to complete sterility and meiotic arrest in conditional knockout male mice. YTK6 is required for stabilising intercellular bridges between spermatocytes due to its key role in maintaining protein homeostasis and vesicular transport‐dependent functions in spermatocytes,
