Unveiling the phylogenetic position of the type species of the syndinean genus Amoebophrya and broad divergence of the A. ceratii complex. [PDF]
Abstract The syndinean genus Amoebophrya comprises endoparasitic dinoflagellates that infect various marine protists. Since the description of the type species, A. sticholonchae, a parasite of the radiolarian Sticholonche zanclea, an additional six Amoebophrya species have been formally described.

Dinoflagellate responses to nutrients and mangrove leaf organic matter in the bioluminescent Mangrove Lagoon, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. [PDF]
Abstract Bioluminescent bays (biobays) are uncommon coastal ecosystems featuring dense populations of dinoflagellates, often found in mangrove‐ringed lagoons with long water retention times and high organic matter (OM) levels. Although mangroves are associated with high dinoflagellate abundance, it remains uncertain how inorganic nutrients compare with

The toxic benthic dinoflagellate Prorocentrum maculosum Faust is a synonym of Prorocentrum hoffmannianum Faust [PDF]
Three strains of the toxic benthic dinoflagellate Prorocentrum hoffmannianum were isolated in the Canary Islands (north-east Atlantic Ocean, Spain). The identity of the strains was determined by phylogenetic analyses of partial LSU rDNA (D1-D2 regions) but their morphology based on SEM images corresponded to P. maculosum.

Identification of Volatiles of the Dinoflagellate Prorocentrum cordatum
The dinoflagellate Prorocentrum cordatum, often called P. minimum, is a potentially toxic alga found in algal blooms. Volatile compounds released by the alga might carry important information, e.g., on its physiological state, and may act as chemical messengers.

An Update on the Morphology and Phylogeny of the Nanoplanktonic Dinoflagellate Prorocentrum nux. [PDF]
ABSTRACTThe Prorocentrales are a diverse group of dinophytes found in a wide range of marine environments. However, species delimitation in the genus Prorocentrum still remains a challenge, especially for nanoscale species where morphological and molecular information is often incomplete.

Bysmatrum granulosum sp. nov., a new benthic dinoflagellate from the southwestern Indian Ocean [PDF]
A new benthic marine dino¯agellate, Bysmatrum granulosum Ten-Hage, Turquet, Quod & Couté, sp. nov., was obtained from sediment and coral samples from sites of La Réunion Island (SW Indian Ocean). This new species is described and illustrated by light and
