The influence of prostaglandin antagonists on radiation therapy of carcinoma of the cervix

Gynecologic Oncology, 1984
In a random trial of 160 women undergoing radiation therapy for carcinoma of the cervix of all stages 76 individuals were treated with 3 X 100 mg oxyphenbutazone daily and 84 individuals served as controls. Reevaluation shows a significantly better 5- and 10-year-survival rate of 70 and 62% in the treatment group, compared to 55 and 44% in the control ...

Effects of thyrotropin, prostaglandin E1 and a prostaglandin antagonist on iodide trapping in isolated thyroid cells

Life Sciences, 1971
Abstract We examined effects of two adenyl cyclase activators, thyrotropin [TSH] and prostaglandin E 1 [PGE 1 ], as well as those of a prostaglandin antagonist, 7-oxa-13-prostynoic acid [PY 1 ], on iodide trapping in isolated bovine thyroid cells [ITC]. When maximally effective concentrations of TSH and PGE 1 were combined, no additive effect on I −

Investigational prostaglandin D2receptor antagonists for airway inflammation

Expert Opinion on Investigational Drugs, 2016
By activating DP1 and DP2 receptors on immune and non-immune cells, prostaglandin D2 (PGD2), a major metabolic product of cyclo-oxygenase pathway released after IgE-mediated mast cell activation, has pro-inflammatory effects, which are relevant to the pathophysiology of allergic airway disease.

Asymmetric Synthesis of a Prostaglandin D2Receptor Antagonist

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2004
An asymmetric synthesis was developed for the production of a prostaglandin D(2) receptor antagonist for the treatment of allergic rhinitis. The stereogenic center was set using asymmetric allylic alkylation chemistry, and the core of the structure was constructed via Pd-catalyzed N-cyclization/Heck methodology.

Prostaglandins and Progesterone Receptor Antagonists in Human Fertility Regulation

Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 1994
Summary: Anti‐progesterone medicines have now been extensively studied for human fertility regulation. The combination of the anti‐progesterone Mifepristone with prostaglandin analogues such as Gemeprost and Misoprostol have been used in several European centres for medical abortion.

An antagonist of prostaglandin synthesis in cardiovascular diseases.

Annals of clinical research, 1985
Prostaglandins potently regulate platelet aggregation and vascular tone. Thus they are of great importance in the blood supply of tissue. The strategy of the attempts to prevent occlusive vascular disease have been either to decrease the amount of aggregatory, vasoconstricting prostaglandins or to increase antiaggregatory, vasodilatory prostaglandins ...

Study on the prostaglandin antagonistic activity of aligeron and piracetam.

Methods and findings in experimental and clinical pharmacology, 1983
The interaction of aligeron and piracetam with the effects of prostaglandin F2 alpha (PGF2 alpha) E2 (PGE2) was studied using in vitro and in vivo tests for evaluation of PG antagonistic activity. Aligeron was found to be a non-selective PG antagonist in isolated guinea-pig stomach smooth muscle preparations.
