X-ray Spectro-polarimetry with Photoelectric Polarimeters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We derive a generalization of forward fitting for X-ray spectroscopy to include linear polarization of X-ray sources, appropriate for the anticipated next generation of space-based photoelectric polarimeters. We show that the inclusion of polarization sensitivity requires joint fitting to three observed spectra, one for each of the Stoke's parameters ...

Time‐Controlled Dual Targeting to Program Systemic and Intercellular Transfer of Therapeutic Effects

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Aspirin‐liposomes loaded onto monocytes enable inflammation‐triggered targeting and efficient hand‐over of aspirin to inflamed cells. Monocytes uptake a significant portion of aspirin‐liposomes, prolonging therapeutic action. This approach enhances anti‐inflammatory effects through intercellular transfer, demonstrating a translational strategy for ...

An update and review of narrowband ultraviolet B phototherapy for vitiligo

open access: yesDermatological Reviews, Volume 3, Issue 5, Page 326-335, October 2022., 2022
Abstract Vitiligo is a chronic skin condition that results in depigmentation. It affects up to 2% of the population worldwide. Phototherapy is one of the most commonly used treatment methods for vitiligo. In the last few decades, there has been an increasing popularity of narrowband ultraviolet B phototherapy (NB‐UVB) over other forms of phototherapy ...

The effect of prostaglandins E1, E2 and F2 alpha and indomethacin on the sensitivity of glycolysis and glycogen synthesis to insulin in stripped soleus muscles of the rat.

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1985
Prostaglandins E1 and E2 increased the sensitivity of glycolysis to insulin in the isolated stripped soleus muscle of the rat, but prostaglandin F2 alpha had no effect.

Nanostructured 316L Stainless Steel Stent Surfaces Improve Corrosion Resistance, and Enhance Endothelization and Hemocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study investigates the impact of nanostructured surface modification on corrosion resistance, HUVEC functions, and platelet interactions of 316L SS for cardiovascular stents. Nanostructured surfaces enhanced HUVEC proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis‐related gene expression while reducing platelet adhesion and hemolysis.

Dehydration of prostaglandins: study by spectroscopic method

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1969
The ultraviolet (UV) and optical rotatory dispersion (ORD) spectra of prostaglandins E1, A1, B1, and their naturally derived 15-epimers are presented.

Towards topological Hochschild homology of Johnson-Wilson spectra [PDF]

open access: yesAlgebr. Geom. Topol. 20 (2020) 375-393, 2018
We offer a complete description of $THH(E(2))$ under the assumption that the Johnson-Wilson spectrum $E(2)$ at a chosen odd prime carries an $E_\infty$-structure. We also place $THH(E(2))$ in a cofiber sequence $E(2) \rightarrow THH(E(2))\rightarrow \overline{THH}(E(2))$ and describe $\overline{THH}(E(2))$ under the assumption that $E(2)$ is an $E_3 ...

Estrogen-directed synthesis of specific prostaglandins in uterus.

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 1975
Endogenous uterine prostaglandin levels were monitored in the cycling rat and prostaglandins of the F-type were found to rise at proestrus when estrogen levels have been shown to be maximal. Evidence that this is an estrogen-induced event is furnished by

Regulation of renal function by prostaglandin E receptors [PDF]

open access: yesKidney International, 1998
Prostaglandin E2 is the major cyclooxygenase product of arachidonic acid metabolism produced along the nephron. This autacoid interacts with four distinct, G-protein-coupled E-prostanoid receptors designated EP1-EP4. The intrarenal distribution of each receptor has been mapped and the consequences of receptor activation examined.

Bee Better: The Role of Honey in Modern Wound Care

open access: yesAdvanced Therapeutics, EarlyView.
The use of honey as a wound care agent is controversial but paradoxically increasingly popular. Honey possesses relevant antimicrobial properties and can modulate the immune system. The wound healing properties of honey likely depend on its composition and varies across wound types.
