Prostaglandins F2α and E2 in rat placenta and fetal membrane: a comprehensive immunohistochemistry of their synthetic enzymes and in vivo tissue levels during normal pregnancy.

open access: yesThe Journal of veterinary medical science, 2021
We determined a comprehensive immunohistochemistry of putative isoforms of enzymes for prostaglandin (PG) F2α and PGE2 biosynthesis and these PGs levels in placenta and fetal membrane of normal pregnant rats in vivo. Placenta and fetal membrane showed positive immunoreactions for phospholipase A2 group 4A, but not group 2A, and cyclooxygenase (COX)-1 ...

Inflamm-aging and arachadonic acid metabolite differences with stage of tendon disease. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
The contribution of inflammation to the pathogenesis of tendinopathy and high prevalence of re-injury is not well established, although recent evidence suggests involvement of prostaglandins.

Aspirin treatment of mice infected with Trypanosoma cruzi and implications for the pathogenesis of Chagas disease. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Chagas disease, caused by infection with Trypanosoma cruzi, is an important cause of cardiovascular disease. It is increasingly clear that parasite-derived prostaglandins potently modulate host response and disease progression.

EFFECT OF VERAPAMIL ON THE PULMONARY VASOCONSTRICTOR ACTION OF PROSTAGLANDIN F AND A SYNTHETIC PGH2 ANALOGUE [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, 1981
The vasopressor response to prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) and to ((15S)‐hydroxy‐11α, 9α‐(epoxymethano)‐prosta‐5Z, 13E‐dienoic acid) (U‐46619) in the canine isolated lung lobe was significantly attenuated following the administration of verapamil. The pressor response to arachidonic acid (AA) was not affected by the presence of verapamil.

Actomyosin-Driven Division of a Synthetic Cell [PDF]

open access: yesACS Synthetic Biology, 2022
One of the major challenges of bottom-up synthetic biology is rebuilding a minimal cell division machinery. From a reconstitution perspective, the animal cell division apparatus is mechanically the simplest and therefore attractive to rebuild.

Synthetic Biology Toolbox for Nitrogen-Fixing Soil Microbes.

open access: yesACS Synthetic Biology, 2023
The soil environment adjacent to plant roots, termed the rhizosphere, is home to a wide variety of microorganisms that can significantly affect the physiology of nearby plants.

Avaliação econômica das associações fixas de prostaglandina/prostamida e timolol no tratamento do glaucoma e da hipertensão ocular Economic evaluation of Prostaglandin/Prostamide and timolol fixed combinations in the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension

Effect of oleic acid supplementation on prostaglandin production in maternal endometrial and fetal allantochorion cells isolated from late gestation ewes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Elevated circulating non-esterified fatty acids including oleic acid (OA) are associated with many pregnancy related complications. Prostaglandins (PGs) play crucial roles during parturition.

Functional characterization of synthetic leukotriene B and its stereochemical isomers. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
Leukotriene B (LTB), a potent lipid chemotactic factor for neutrophils, is 5S,12R-dihydroxy-6,14-cis,8,10-trans-eicosatetraenoic acid (Fig 1), based upon direct comparison of natural LTB with synthetic 5S,12R-dihydroxy-6,8,10,14-eicosatetraenoic acid (5 ...

Consequences of altered eicosanoid patterns for nociceptive processing in mPGES-1-deficient mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)-dependent prostaglandin (PG) E2 synthesis in the spinal cord plays a major role in the development of inflammatory hyperalgesia and allodynia. Microsomal PGE2 synthase-1 (mPGES-1) isomerizes COX-2-derived PGH2 to PGE2.
