We determined a comprehensive immunohistochemistry of putative isoforms of enzymes for prostaglandin (PG) F2α and PGE2 biosynthesis and these PGs levels in placenta and fetal membrane of normal pregnant rats in vivo. Placenta and fetal membrane showed positive immunoreactions for phospholipase A2 group 4A, but not group 2A, and cyclooxygenase (COX)-1 ...

Inflamm-aging and arachadonic acid metabolite differences with stage of tendon disease. [PDF]
The contribution of inflammation to the pathogenesis of tendinopathy and high prevalence of re-injury is not well established, although recent evidence suggests involvement of prostaglandins.

Aspirin treatment of mice infected with Trypanosoma cruzi and implications for the pathogenesis of Chagas disease. [PDF]
Chagas disease, caused by infection with Trypanosoma cruzi, is an important cause of cardiovascular disease. It is increasingly clear that parasite-derived prostaglandins potently modulate host response and disease progression.

EFFECT OF VERAPAMIL ON THE PULMONARY VASOCONSTRICTOR ACTION OF PROSTAGLANDIN F2α AND A SYNTHETIC PGH2 ANALOGUE [PDF]
The vasopressor response to prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) and to ((15S)‐hydroxy‐11α, 9α‐(epoxymethano)‐prosta‐5Z, 13E‐dienoic acid) (U‐46619) in the canine isolated lung lobe was significantly attenuated following the administration of verapamil. The pressor response to arachidonic acid (AA) was not affected by the presence of verapamil.

Luteal function and oestrus in gilts treated with a synthetic analogue of prostaglandin F-2α (ICI 79,939) at various times during the oestrous cycle [PDF]
Treatment of cattle with various doses of prostaglandin (PG) F-2α by subcutaneous injection (Lauderdale, 1972) or by nonsurgical intrauterine injection (Rowson, Tervit & Brand, 1972; Liehr, Marion & Olson, 1972; Louis, Hafs & Morrow, 1972) induces luteal regression and allows oestrus to occur if initiated after Days 3 or 4 of the oestrous ...

Several principles governing the binding of E series prostaglandins to EP receptors have emerged in recent years. The C-1 carboxyl group binds electrostatically to a conserved arginine residue in the seventh transmembrane segment of the receptor. Prostaglandin E analogs involving bioisosteric replacements of the carboxyl group, such as acylsulfonamide,

THE TERMINATION OF PREGNANCY BY INTRAVENOUS INFUSION OF A SYNTHETIC PROSTAGLANDIN F2α ANALOGUE
BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1973SummaryA synthetic analogue of prostaglandin F2α was successfully used to induce abortion in six patients, five of whom were in the second trimester of pregnancy. Five of the patients had a complete abortion and in one the abortion was incomplete. The mean induction‐abortion interval was 25 hours 15 minutes, ranging from 7 hours 45 minutes to 49 hours ...

Therapeutic uses of prostaglandin F2α analogues in ocular disease and novel synthetic strategies
Prostaglandins & Other Lipid Mediators, 2013The pharmacological management of glaucoma and ocular hypertension has significantly changed over the last 18 years with the introduction of PGF2α analogues, more specifically latanoprost (6), travoprost (8), bimatoprost (10) and tafluprost (12). Prostanoids are currently the first-line medicines among ocular antihypertensive drugs in terms of efficacy,
