Beyond the Number: Interpreting Prostate-Specific Antigen Elevation in the Context of Prostate Inflammation [PDF]

open access: yesUrogenital Tract Infection
Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is indispensable but not cancer specific; inflammation, benign prostatic hyperplasia, urinary retention, ejaculation, and instrumentation can all elevate PSA and complicate cancer risk assessment.

Peripheral zone prostate-specific antigen density: an effective parameter for prostate cancer prediction in men receiving 5α-reductase inhibitors

open access: yesProstate International, 2013
To evaluate the predictive performance of various parameters derived from volume-adjusted prostate-specific antigen (PSA) values in detecting prostate cancer (PCa) and high-grade (Gleason score≥7) PCa according to treatment with a 5α-reductase inhibitor (

Targeting advanced prostate cancer with STEAP1 chimeric antigen receptor T cell and tumor-localized IL-12 immunotherapy

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Six transmembrane epithelial antigen of the prostate 1 (STEAP1) is a cell surface antigen for therapeutic targeting in prostate cancer. Here, we report broad expression of STEAP1 relative to prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) in lethal metastatic ...

Value of MRI to Improve Deep Learning Model That Identifies High-Grade Prostate Cancer. Comment on Gentile et al. Optimized Identification of High-Grade Prostate Cancer by Combining Different PSA Molecular Forms and PSA Density in a Deep Learning Model. Diagnostics 2021, 11, 335

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2021
Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) has been criticized for its low specificity for prostate cancer, which has led to the increased adoption of additional biomarkers, PSA density (PSAD), and multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) to increase the ...

Peripheral zone PSA density: a predominant variable to improve prostate cancer detection efficiency in men with PSA higher than 4 ng ml-1

open access: yesAsian Journal of Andrology, 2021
To improve the diagnostic efficiency of prostate cancer (PCa) and reduce unnecessary biopsies, we defined and analyzed the diagnostic efficiency of peripheral zone prostate-specific antigen (PSA) density (PZ-PSAD).

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.
