Use of the Ion Robot in the Diagnosis of Pulmonary Nodules: Fine Needle Aspiration Versus Cryobiopsy

open access: yesDiagnostic Cytopathology, Volume 54, Issue 8, Page 562-567, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Robotic‐assisted bronchoscopy platforms provide an innovative approach to the sampling of pulmonary nodules. As compared to other technologies, fiber‐optic shape‐sensing instrumentation allows for a more precise, accurate location and sampling of the target lesion with fewer complications.

Testican‐1‐MMP axis in tumour extracellular matrix (ECM) remodelling: interaction dynamics analysis and an in silico perspective

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 269, Issue 4-5, Page 433-445, August 2026.
Abstract The extracellular matrix (ECM) plays a pivotal role in facilitating tumour development, invasiveness, metastasis, and immunoevasive processes through dynamic ECM remodelling processes. Testican‐1 (SPOCK1), an excretory matricellular proteoglycan, is suggested to exert a role in the facilitation of ECM remodelling processes through interacting ...

Targeting fibrosis in the treatment of lower urinary tract dysfunction

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 269, Issue 4-5, Page 493-503, August 2026.
Abstract Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a widely prevalent age‐associated disease that is the main contributor to lower urinary tract dysfunction (LUTD) in aging men. Although prostate fibrosis has been recognized as a contributor to BPH pathophysiology, there are not any clinically available therapeutics that target this aspect of disease ...

FOXA1 is a highly sensitive diagnostic marker for prostate cancer including small cell carcinoma of the prostate

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 89, Issue 2, Page 240-250, August 2026.
FOXA1 is a highly sensitive diagnostic marker for prostate cancer. Besides prostatic adenocarcinoma, it is also expressed in 57%–80% of metastatic or primary prostatic small cell carcinomas, which lose traditional prostatic markers including NKX3.1. Although it is less specific than NKX3.1, it can serve as a valuable adjunct for confirming prostatic ...

ERG expression in mucinous prostatic adenocarcinoma and prostatic adenocarcinoma with mucinous features: comparison with conventional prostatic adenocarcinoma

Human Pathology, 2013
TMPRSS2-ERG is the most common gene fusion in conventional prostatic adenocarcinoma (PCa), identified in about 40% to 70% of cases. Mucinous PCa and PCa with mucinous features are rare subtypes of prostate cancer, and ERG expression in these subtypes has not been well characterized in a large series. A search was made through the surgical pathology and

Mucinous Adenocarcinoma of the Prostate

Journal of Urology, 1977
The third case of mucous-forming adenocarcinoma of the prostate with metastases to the bone is reported. The primary tumor was unresponsive to definitive radiotherapy and subsequent metastases to the lung, liver and bone failed to respond to hormonal manipulation and chemotherapy.
