Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

The precautionary approach and the management of the European eel (Anguilla anguilla) – critical remarks [PDF]
Recruitment and commercial catches of European eel have been in decline since the late 1970s. So far, the reasons are not well understood. A range of potential natural and anthropogenic reasons have been discussed, but the relative importance of the ...

Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

In case of radiation accidents, one of the radical protective measures is the evacuation of residents from contaminated areas. Its purpose is to reduce the possible radiation effect to the population. At the same time, evacuation itself becomes a serious

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Measuring protection: a cautionary tale [PDF]
Abstract This paper comments on a theoretically based index of protection recently developed by Anderson and Neary. The index must be calculated within the context of a specific CGE model; Anderson and Neary propose a generic model, and have found that the index is robust to changes in the elasticities embedded within that model.

Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Toxin-neutralizing antibodies protect against Clostridium perfringens challenge in an intestinal loop model for bovine enterotoxaemia [PDF]
Bovine enterotoxaemia caused by Clostridium perfringens type A most often presents as a sudden death syndrome with necro-hemorrhagic small intestinal lesions in suckling calves and veal calves (Muylaert et al., 2010).
