Numerical Simulation of Protein Denaturation of Scallop Adductors during Heating Based on Temperature Distribution and Water Status Distribution

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
Protein denaturation is the key point affecting quality attributes of the scallop adductors (SA) during thermal processing such as drying, sous-vide cooking and traditional cooking.

Visualization of early events in acetic acid denaturation of HIV-1 protease: a molecular dynamics study.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Protein denaturation plays a crucial role in cellular processes. In this study, denaturation of HIV-1 Protease (PR) was investigated by all-atom MD simulations in explicit solvent.

Protein sterilization method of firefly luciferase using reduced pressure and molecular sieves [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
The sterilization of the protein fruitfly luciferase under conditions that prevent denaturation is examined. Denaturation is prevented by heating the protein in contact with molecular seives and under a reduced pressure of the order of 0.00005 ...

Putting Proteins back into Water

open access: yes, 2000
We introduce a simplified protein model where the solvent (water) degrees of freedom appear explicitly (although in an extremely simplified fashion). Using this model we are able to recover the thermodynamic phenomenology of proteins over a wide range of

Assaying activity and assessing thermostability of hyperthermophilic enzymes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
There is now a wide variety of intra- and extra-cellular enzymes available from organisms growing above 75°C, and having sufficient stability to allow assay well above this temperature.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Rubredoxin Variant Folds without Iron [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Pyroccocus furiosus rubredoxin (PFRD), like most studied hyperthermophilic proteins, does not undergo reversible folding. The irreversibility of folding is thought to involve PFRD’s iron-binding site.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Honey-Induced Protein Stabilization as Studied by Fluorescein Isothiocyanate Fluorescence

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2013
Protein stabilizing potential of honey was studied on a model protein, bovine serum albumin (BSA), using extrinsic fluorescence of fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) as the probe.

Low resolution NMR spectroscopy: a tool to study protein denaturation: I. Application to diamagnetic whey proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A method using low resolution NMR spectroscopy is described for investigating whey protein thermal denaturation. The method is based on measuring at 20 °C changes in water proton transverse (T2) relaxation parameter following the denaturing treatment ...
