Characterization of the function of a novel protein tyrosine phophatase predicted by the genome sequence of Arabidopsis thaliana [PDF]
Covalent modification of proteins by reversible phosphorylation, catalysed by specific protein kinases and phosphatases, is an important mechanism for enzyme activity regulation in metabolism and signalling pathways.

Enoyl-acyl carrier protein (enoyl-ACP) reductase catalyzes the last step of the elongation cycle in the synthesis of bacterial fatty acids. The Enterococcus faecalis genome contains two genes annotated as enoyl-ACP reductases, a FabI-type enoyl-ACP ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Implications of molecular interactions for protein structure, function and design [PDF]
Protein structures are kept in a delicate balance of stability by the interactions of the amino acid residues among themselves, the solvent and other molecules. On one hand they must be stable enough not to unfold, on the other hand they must be mobile

Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

A study of protein function-function correlation
[[abstract]]The main purpose of this research is to derive a set of rules for protein function and protein function correlation. This set of relations is used to predict the biological functions of a protein given that it interacts with another protein ...

Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
