Inhalability and Bioactivity of Spray‐Dried versus Pressurized Gas eXpanded Liquid Technology‐Processed Yeast Beta‐Glucan Microparticles for Anti‐Fibrotic Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
PGXTEC) liquid technology is utilized to develop highly respirable yeast beta‐glucan (YBG) microparticles for the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis. Compared to conventionally processed spray‐dried YBG, PGXTEC‐YBG exhibits greatly improved aerodynamic properties, enhanced pro‐fibrotic macrophage uptake, and effective downregulation of pro‐fibrotic ...

Advanced Nanoparticle Therapeutics for Targeting Neutrophils in Inflammatory Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in nanoparticle‐based strategies to modulate neutrophil activity in inflammatory diseases. By targeting inflammatory neutrophils, NET formation, and neutrophil apoptosis or recruitment, these approaches aim to improve therapeutic precision.

Printing and Rerouting of Elastic and Protease Responsive Shape Memory Hydrogel Filaments

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A biofabrication strategy, Rerouting of Free‐Floating Suspended Hydrogel Filaments (REFRESH), is developed enabling the printing of highly elastic, reconfigurable protease‐responsive hydrogel filaments with shape memory properties. The filaments can be manually braided, knotted, and rerouted to create intricate cell‐laden 3D architectures, expanding ...

Mechanical Reinforced and Self‐healing Hydrogels: Bioprinted Biomimetic Methacrylated Collagen Peptide‐Xanthan Gum Constructs for Ligament Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Readily UV‐curing and self‐healing methacrylated collagen peptide (COPMA) hydrogels are developed with tunable mechanical properties. As the interpenetrating network between COPMA and xanthan gum (XG), COPMA‐XG bioinks show improved mechanical properties, printability, and stability, compared to COPMA or XG.

Kinetics of the Inhibition of Proteinase 3 by Elafin [PDF]

open access: possibleAmerican Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology, 2001
Excessive proteolytic activity of proteinase 3 (Pr3) has been suggested to be a factor contributing to the pathogenesis of emphysema and other inflammatory disorders. We report here on the kinetics of inhibition of Pr3 by one of its major endogenous inhibitors, the 6-kD inhibitory domain of elafin.

Proteinase 3. A neutrophil proteinase with activity on platelets.

The Journal of Immunology, 1994
Abstract Purified proteinase 3 (PR3) devoid of any elastase (HLE) and cathepsin G (Cat.G) contaminants, was prepared from azurophilic granules of human polymorphonuclear neutrophils by using a novel procedure. Although unable to induce platelet activation (up to 25 micrograms/ml) by itself, PR3 at a concentration as low as 2.5 micrograms/

Proteinase 3 phosphonic inhibitors

Biochimie, 2019
Neutrophils are one of the most important military services of the armed forces of the immune system, a crucial line of defense against bacterial or fungal onslaughts. One of their mechanisms of action relies on the production of serine proteases.

[3] Myeloblastin: Leukocyte proteinase 3

1994
Publisher Summary This chapter describes assay, purification, and properties of myeloblastin. Myeloblastin is a neutral serine endopeptidase produced during myeloid differentiation and stored in the azurophilic granules of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs).
