Sensitive Method to Identify and Characterize Proteinases In Situ after SDS-PAGE
Cells and body fluids contain numerous, different proteinases; to identify and characterize them are both important and difficult tasks. Especially difficult to identify and characterize are highly specific proteinases.

Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

Translophagy—A potential link between autophagy impairment and translational errors
Neurodegenerative diseases are characterised by the accumulation of abnormal proteins and protein aggregates, but their origin often remains unknown. We propose that selective autophagy removes damaged protein‐making machinery, preventing errors during protein synthesis.

Proteinases in trichomonads and trichomoniasis [PDF]
Multiple proteolytic activities were detected in the cell lysates of each of Trichomonas vaginalis, Tritrichomonas foetus, Trichomitus batrachorum and Pentatrichomonas hominis. Analysis of the enzymes responsible using electrophoretic techniques, however,

Structural and biochemical analysis of a B12 superbinder
BtuG proteins are vitamin B12 scavengers in Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, a dominant human gut bacterium. We present crystal structures of three BtuG homologs bound to cobalamin and its precursor cobinamide, revealing picomolar binding affinities, among the highest known for any natural protein.

Generation and degradation of human endostatin proteins by various proteinases [PDF]
The angiogenesis inhibitor endostatin is a fragment of the NC1 domain of collagen XVIII. The generation of endostatin has been investigated only in murine hemangioendothelioma cell cultures and was ascribed to cathepsin L.

Identification, classification and expression pattern analysis of sugarcane cysteine proteinases
Cysteine proteases are peptidyl hydrolyses dependent on a cysteine residue at the active center. The physical and chemical properties of cysteine proteases have been extensively characterized, but their precise biological functions have not yet been ...

Mycobacterial 3‐methylcrotonyl‐CoA carboxylase uses a mobile biotin‐carrying domain to shuttle a carboxyl group between two catalytic sites, enabling carboxylation of 3‐methylcrotonyl‐CoA during leucine breakdown. Cryo‐electron microscopy captures the carrier at both sites and reveals an inward loop movement that may prevent futile rebinding to the ...

Extracellular proteinases in natural isolates of Staphylococci [PDF]
