Prevalence in Potato of ‘Candidatus Arsenophonus Phytopathogenicus’ and ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma Solani’ and Their Transmission via Adult Pentastiridius leporinus

open access: yesInsects
The planthopper Pentastiridius leporinus (Hempiptera: Cixiidae) is the main vector of two bacterial pathogens: the γ-proteobacterium ‘Candidatus Arsenophonus phytopathogenicus’ and the stolbur phytoplasma ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma solani’.

Culturing marine bacteria from the genus Pseudoalteromonas on a cotton scaffold alters secondary metabolite production

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, 2019
The discovery of secondary metabolites from marine microorganisms is beset by numerous challenges including difficulties cultivating and subsequently eliciting expression of biosynthetic genes from marine microbes in the laboratory.

Construction of Chronic Kidney Disease Mouse Model Induced by Diets With Different Adenine Content

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
By administering a 4 weeks adenine diet to C57BL/6J mice, we identified 0.2% adenine in purified feed as the optimal chronic kidney disease model. This model induces severe renal damage, gut dysbiosis, uremic toxin accumulation, and CKD mineral bone disorder, providing a clinically relevant platform for mechanistic and therapeutic studies.

Urolithin A, a Diet‐Derived Gut Microbial Metabolite Against Pulmonary Hypertension Identified via Molecular Docking, Molecular Dynamics and Surface Plasmon Resonance

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Urolithin A, a gut microbial metabolite, binds TNF to suppress proliferation, inflammation, and oxidative stress, offering a promising microbe‐derived therapeutic avenue for pulmonary hypertension. ABSTRACT Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a complex and multifactorial disease that poses a significant clinical challenge.

Interkingdom Interactions in the Gut: Ecological Mechanisms, Homeostasis, and Therapeutic Modulation

open access: yesGut Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The gut microbiota constitutes a highly complex and dynamic ecosystem that profoundly influences host physiology, metabolism, and immunity. This review provides an integrative overview of the mechanisms through which gut microorganisms—particularly bacteria and fungi—interact with host cells and with each other to maintain intestinal ...

Probiotics‐derived postbiotics improve host metabolic syndrome by activating the adipocyte thermogenic signaling pathway in high‐fat diet‐fed mice

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
This schematic illustrates how probiotics‐derived postbiotics (PLBK®1–5) combat high‐fat diet‐induced obesity. Postbiotics remodel gut microbiota, boosting beneficial metabolites. These metabolites activate adipocyte thermogenesis (Ucp1/AMPK pathway), resulting in reduced body weight, improved insulin sensitivity, and alleviated hepatic steatosis in ...

Functionally complementary bacterial inoculant coordinates arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi to improve Angelica sinensis root yield and quality

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Comprehensive understanding of how diverse PGPR strains enhance the rhizosphere microenvironment remains a considerable challenge. Here, we provide experimental evidence that a functionally synergistic composite microbial formulation can markedly enhance growth performance and improve the quality attributes in Angelica sinensis.

Genome‐wide insights into whole gut microbiota of rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss, fed plant proteins and camelina oil at different temperature regimens

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society
Gut microbiota impacts fish metabolism, nutrient utilization, and health. We know little about how temperature and diet interact with rainbow trout gut microbes.

Accu16S/AccuITS: Accurate and broadly applicable amplicon sequencing for absolute microbiome quantification

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
Traditional 16S rRNA gene and Internal Transcribed Spacer region amplicon sequencing provides only relative abundance, often leading to biased ecological interpretations. To overcome this limitation, we developed Accu16S/AccuITS, an absolute quantification method for bacterial and fungal amplicons based on synthetic internal spike‐in DNA with known ...

Insulin Resistance: An Update on Biochemical and Pathophysiological Mechanisms and Impact on Various Diseases

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Insulin resistance is the biological phenomenon in which the human body's normal response to the metabolic hormone insulin is compromised. Insulin is a regulator of most of the essential metabolic steps in the body that control energy homoeostasis, so dysregulation leads to multiple diverse human diseases including, most prominently, Type 2 ...
