Taxonomic and phylogenetic study of the genus Lecaimmeria (Lecideaceae, Ascomycota) reveals two new species from Pakistan

open access: yesItalian Journal of Mycology
Two new species, Lecaimmeria pallidobrunnea sp. nov. and L. sultanii sp. nov. from Gilgit-Baltistan (Pakistan) are described here. A comparative morpho-anatomical, chemical and molecular based analyses confirmed the positions of both species within the ...

Study on Gametophytes of Four Species of Maiden Hair Ferns (Adiantum L.) and Their Systematic Implications

open access: yesNotulae Scientia Biologicae, 2019
Matured spores of four (4) species of maiden hair ferns namely, Adiantum capillus-veneris L., A. caudatum L., A. edgeworthii Hook. and A. incisum Forssk. were collected and grown in petri-dishes containing natural media formed by mixing dead wood of tree

Risk assessment of the production of seaweed in the Netherlands; food safety and nature

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 4, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract Seaweed is seen as an important source of alternative proteins for a sustainable food system and food security. The cultivation of seaweed is therefore encouraged by the European Union (EU) and also by the Dutch government. In the Netherlands, seaweed is farmed on small scale in the Southwest Delta, the Wadden Sea and the North Sea. Despite the

A First Inventory of the Lichens of Mangaia, and an Updated Checklist for the Cook Islands

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Botany, Volume 64, Issue 1, March 2026.
A first checklist is provided for the lichenised fungi of Mangaia. Based on field work undertaken during November 2024, when 144 collections were made over a 5‐day period, 66 species are recognised from Mangaia, including 43 new national records for the Cook Islands. A number of the new records reported here for Mangaia are first reports for islands of

The first comprehensive multilocus phylogeny of the lichenized genus Micarea (Ectolechiaceae, Ascomycota)

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Micarea is a crustose cosmopolitan lichen genus that belongs to the euascomycete class Lecanoromycetes. Recent molecular phylogenies on the genus based on one to three loci have mostly focused on Micarea s.str., including the type species M. prasina, and suggested that Micarea s.l. is paraphyletic.
