A linear solvation energy relationship study for the reactivity of 2-substituted cyclohex-1-enecarboxylic and 2-substituted benzoic acids with diazodiphenylmethane in aprotic and protic solvents [PDF]
The rate constants for the reaction of 2-substituted cyclohex-1-enecarboxylic acids and the corresponding 2-substituted benzoic acids with diazodiphenylmethane were determined in various aprotic solvents at 30 ºC.

Intermolecular Electrophilic Germylation Using GeCl4 and Al2Cl6
While electrophilic aromatic substitution is well‐established for carbon and silicon‐based electrophiles, it is extremely underdeveloped for germanium. Herein we report the first effective intermolecular Germa–Friedel–Crafts reaction. The process can be modified to enable selective synthesis of the mono‐ or the di‐aryl germane derivatives, ArGeCl3 and ...

Michael–type reactions of β-nitrostyrenes with piperidine: effect of solvents on reactivity and reaction mechanism [PDF]
Present report deals with the effect of solvent on the kinetics and mechanism of Michael-type reaction of ƒÒ-nitrostyrene with piperidine. Three different types of solvents are used for the study namely, nonpolar (chloroform, toluene, hexane), dipolar ...

Interaction of a Long Alkyl Chain Protic Ionic Liquid and Water
A combined experimental/theoretical approach has been used to investigate the role of water in modifying the microscopic interactions characterizing the optical response of butyl-ammonium nitrate (BAN) water solutions.

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.

Single‐electron transfer‐mediated reductive carbonyl–olefin couplings are valuable carbon–carbon bond forming reactions. However, limitations persist for couplings of aliphatic aldehydes with electron‐deficient olefins. Here, we report a simple, photocatalyst‐free protocol that overcomes these limitations by using a Hantzsch ester anion as a ...

Ionic epoxy networks are prepared using ammonium salts as hardeners, leading to a two‐stage curing process with a thermoplastic‐like intermediate. This uncommon behavior enables extrusion and fabrication of thermoplastic prepregs that can be cured into thermoset composites.

The dynamics of unimolecular photo-triggered reactions can be strongly affected by the surrounding medium. An accurate description of these reactions requires knowing the free energy surface (FES) and the friction felt by the reactants.
