Self‐Trapped Excitons Activate Pseudo‐Inert Basal Planes of 2D Organic Semiconductors for Improved Photocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
2D organic semiconductors are widely believed to have uniformly active surfaces. This study reveals that their basal planes can be pseudo‐inert due to anisotropic exciton migration. By inducing exciton self‐trapping through dimensional reduction, these inert planes are activated, boosting hydrogen peroxide production by over 350%. The work uncovers key

Appropriate Use of Proton Pump Inhibitors in General Out Patient Department of a Tertiary Care Center of Kathmandu Valley: An Observational Study

open access: yesJournal of Nepal Medical Association
Introduction: Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) are widely used medications that suppress gastric acid secretion worldwide. However, they have been linked to an increased risk of chronic kidney disease, hypomagnesemia, and bacterial infections, including C.

Vapor Phase Installation of CpCo(CO)2 in MOF‐808

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) provide high surface area and chemically uniform scaffolds for catalysis. Atomic layer deposition within frameworks may imbue even greater catalytic activity and selectivity. However, a mechanistic understanding of metal center installation is necessary to ensure the uniform installation required to draw strict structure‐

Early Relief of Upper Gastrointestinal Dyspeptic Symptoms: A Survey of Empirical Therapy with Pantoprazole in Canadian Clinical Practice

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology, 2002
BACKGROUND: Upper gastrointestinal symptoms attributable to gastroesophageal reflux disease or peptic ulcer are common, but the outcome of proton pump inhibitor therapy in clinical practice is not well documented.

Photosynthesis and calcification in the calcifying algae Halimeda discoidea studied with microsensors

open access: yes, 2001
With microsensors, we measured the steady‐state microprofiles of O2, pH and Ca2+ on the topside of young segments of Halimeda discoidea, as well as the surface dynamics upon light–dark shifts. The effect of several inhibitors was studied.

Coaxial Electrospun ZIF‐8@PAN Nanofiber Membranes for Tetracycline and Doxycycline Adsorption in Wastewater

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
ZIF‐8@PAN nanofiber membrane with a core‐shell structure is produced via coaxial electrospinning for removing tetracycline antibiotics. The adsorption behavior under different conditions, kinetics, thermodynamics, and isotherm are studied. Adsorption mechanisms include electrostatic interactions, coordination, hydrogen bonding, and π–π interactions ...

Visible Light‐Promoted Esterification of Carboxylic Acids via Photoacid Generation Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
A novel, environmentally friendly photochemical method for the esterification of carboxylic acids with alcohols using arylazo sulfones as photoacid generators was developed. This approach avoids traditional acidic catalysts, purification did not require chromatography and the method proved effective under continuous flow conditions for enhanced ...
