Hsp90 and associates shaping parasite biology
Hsp90 is considered to be the master regulator of chaperone activity within the cellular context. In addition to aiding client maturation and maintaining protein homeostasis, Hsp90 serves various non-canonical functions in model eukaryotes: ranging from ...

Protozoan Parasite Auxotrophies and Metabolic Dependencies
Diseases caused by protozoan parasites have a major impact on world health. These early branching eukaryotes cause significant morbidity and mortality in humans and livestock. During evolution, protozoan parasites have evolved toward complex life cycles in multiple host organisms with different nutritional resources.

This study provides the first global systematic synthesis of Cryptosporidium spp. infection in snakes. A pooled prevalence of 12.6% was identified, with higher occurrence in captive‐associated populations than in wild snakes. Eight Cryptosporidium species, including multiple zoonotic taxa, were reported, underscoring the potential role of snakes within

Organometallic derivatization of existing drugs is a common strategy to look for new drug candidates. This work describes the derivatization of the benzimidazole anthelmintic scaffold, from the synthesis of the organometallic derivatives to the evaluation of their biological properties. It highlights a broad range of antiparasitic activities and leaves

EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

ABSTRACT Abalone are economically, ecologically and culturally significant marine molluscs, with both wild and farmed populations under pressure due to intrinsic and extrinsic stressors. Abalone performance and health are centred on a highly specialized digestive system supported by a diverse gut microbiome, which enables nutrient assimilation ...
