Epigenetic memory in induced pluripotent stem cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Somatic cell nuclear transfer and transcription-factor-based reprogramming revert adult cells to an embryonic state, and yield pluripotent stem cells that can generate all tissues.

Intact proviruses are enriched in the colon and associated with PD-1+TIGIT− mucosal CD4+ T cells of people with HIV-1 on antiretroviral therapyResearch in context

open access: yesEBioMedicine
Summary: Background: The persistence of intact replication-competent HIV-1 proviruses is responsible for the virological rebound off treatment. The gut could be a major reservoir of HIV-1 due to the high number of infected target cells.

Relationship between latent and rebound viruses in a clinical trial of anti-HIV-1 antibody 3BNC117. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A clinical trial was performed to evaluate 3BNC117, a potent anti-HIV-1 antibody, in infected individuals during suppressive antiretroviral therapy and subsequent analytical treatment interruption (ATI).

Variations of endogenous chicken proviruses: characterization of new loci of endogenous proviruses in the genome of Italian partridge chickens.

open access: yesFolia biologica, 1985
The composition and structure of endogenous proviruses present in the genome of Italian Partridge chickens were studied by the method of blot hybridization using RAV-2 [32P]DNA or LTR of RSV as hybridization probes. The genomes of 5 out of 39 chickens analyzed did not contain endogenous proviruses related to RAV-2.

Soil Viruses: A New Hope. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
As abundant members of microbial communities, viruses impact microbial mortality, carbon and nutrient cycling, and food web dynamics. Although most of our information about viral communities comes from marine systems, evidence is mounting to suggest that

Defective HIV proviruses: possible involvement in the HIV infection pathogenesis

open access: yesProblems of Virology
This review article analyzes information obtained from a literature search on defective HIV genomes (HIV-1, Human Immunodeficiency Virus, Lentivirus, Orthoretrovirinae, Retroviridae). It discusses the origins of defective HIV genomes, their potential for transcription and translation, and the role of defective RNA and proteins in stimulating both ...
