Early Mobilisation in Proximal Humerus Fractures: Is a Stratified Rehabilitation Protocol Safe? [PDF]

open access: yesMalaysian Orthopaedic Journal
Introduction: There remains little evidence on rehabilitation protocols for proximal humerus fractures (PHFs), although early mobilisation has been associated with positive clinical outcomes.

Evaluating the neutralizing antibody response to HIV-1 membrane proximal external regional; Implications for vaccine design

open access: yes, 2014
Includes bibliographical references.Inducing broadly neutralizing antibodies targeting the HIV-1 envelope is thought to be crucial for developing an effective vaccine.

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Kullback-Leibler Proximal Variational Inference [PDF]

open access: yes
We propose a new variational inference method based on a proximal framework that uses the Kullback-Leibler (KL) divergence as the proximal term. We make two contributions towards exploiting the geometry and structure of the variational bound. Firstly, we

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

On heredity of strongly proximal actions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
summary:We prove that action of a semigroup $T$ on compact metric space $X$ by continuous selfmaps is strongly proximal if and only if $T$ action on ${\mathcal P}(X)$ is strongly proximal.

The proximal-proximal gradient algorithm

open access: yes, 2013
We consider the problem of minimizing a convex objective which is the sum of a smooth part, with Lipschitz continuous gradient, and a nonsmooth part. Inspired by various applications, we focus on the case when the nonsmooth part is a composition of a proper closed convex function P and a nonzero affine map, with the proximal mappings of τP, τ> 0 ...

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

脑梗死患者上肢近端和远端早期运动功能恢复的影响因素分析Analysis of Influencing Factors for Early Motor Function Recovery of Proximal and Distal Upper Limbs in Patients with Cerebral Infarction

open access: yesZhongguo cuzhong zazhi
