A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Proximal-distal leg development in Drosophila requires the apterous gene and the lim 1 homogue dlim1

open access: yes, 2000
Proximal-distal leg development in Drosophila involves a battery of genes expressed and required in specific proximal-distal (PD) domains of the appendage. Here we report the characterisation of a new gene of this type, dlim 1, a member of the Lhx family

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Visfatin reduces gap junction mediated cell-to-cell communication in proximal tubule-derived epithelial cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background/Aims: In the current study we examined if the adipocytokine, visfatin, alters connexinmediated intercellular communication in proximal tubule-derived epithelial cells.

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

A Prospective, Randomised Controlled Trial Comparing the use of the Proximal Femoral Nail – Antirotation and Dynamic Hip Screw for Stable Intertrochanteric Femur Fractures-Stable Trochanteric Fractures Intramedullary versus Extramedullary (STRIVE) Study [PDF]

open access: yesMalaysian Orthopaedic Journal
Introduction: Intramedullary nailing in the management of hip fractures is gaining in popularity. Our study aims to determine if there are any clinical and radiological differences between the Proximal Femoral Nail Antirotation II (PFNA II) and the ...

Calculus Rules for V-Proximal Subdifferentials in Smooth Banach Spaces

open access: yesJournal of Function Spaces, 2016
In 2010, Bounkhel et al. introduced new proximal concepts (analytic proximal subdifferential, geometric proximal subdifferential, and proximal normal cone) in reflexive smooth Banach spaces.
