PrP proteinopathies

The conditions referred to as ‘spongiform encephalopathies', ‘transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSE)' and ‘prion diseases' have been recognised to be conformational diseases in which the prion protein (PrP) adopts a non-native conformation.179,180,376,429,431 This structural change leads to the aggregation of misfolded PrP (mfPrP).
