Relationship between Resistance to Barley Yellow Dwarf Virus in Spring Barley and Aphid Feeding Behaviour [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The feeding period of the grain aphid, Sitobion avenae, an important vector of barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV), was studied in six varieties of spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) in an attempt to explain the resistance mechanisms in some barley ...

Maize Streak Virus: diversity and virulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Zea mays was first introduced to Africa in Ghana by Portuguese traders in the 16th century. The steady spread of maize cultivation since then has made it the most important cereal crop in Africa today.

A Preliminary Account on the Sanitary Status of Stone Fruits at the Clonal Genebank in Harrow, Canada

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2005
Field observations and laboratory tests were carried out in Harrow to evaluate the sanitary status of the Clonal Genebank collection of stone fruit. The presence of viruses and viroids was determined by ELISA, tissueprinting hybridization and GF305 woody

Advances in research on autophagy in the maintenance of insect–microbe symbiosis

open access: yesNew Plant Protection, Volume 3, Issue 3, September 2026.
Autophagy plays a dual regulatory role in insect–microbe symbiotic relationships. Beneficial symbiotic bacteria in insects participate in nutrient exchange via the TOR pathway, whereas pathogenic microbes induce immune defense through the AMPK pathway. Autophagy‐related genes regulate development and pathogen clearance during this process.

Sour and duke cherry viruses in South-West Europe

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2017
This study investigated the phytosanitary status of sour and duke cherry genetic resources in the Iberian Peninsula, and the incidence and leaf symptoms induced by the Prunus necrotic ringspot virus (PNRSV), Prune dwarf virus (PDV) and Apple chlorotic ...

Rootstock impacts on citrus flush dynamics, vegetative growth, and Diaphorina citri infestation and dispersion: Implications for huanglongbing management

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 9, Page 8795-8809, September 2026.
Dwarfing citrus rootstocks restrict flush shoot growth on the scion, thereby reducing Asian citrus psyllid infestation, dispersal, and huanglongbing (HLB) progression. These findings support the use of dwarfing rootstocks as an effective cultural strategy in integrated HLB management for citrus orchards.

Feathers and flu: identifying data gaps in avian influenza host dynamics to prioritize wildlife conservation Plumas y gripe: identificación de datos faltantes en la dinámica de hospedadores de la influenza aviar para priorizar la conservación de la vida silvestre

open access: yesWildlife Monographs, Volume 225, Issue 1, September 2026.
We describe the host response continuum for highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses (HPAIV), including the continuum of host responses to HPAIV infection and exposure based on the primary axis of host competence, ability to infect other hosts, and host vulnerability.
