Effect of pruning on tree growth, yield, and wood properties of Tectona grandis plantations in Costa Rica

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 2005
Reduced plantation densities have the effect that obtaining natural pruning and stem straightness are less assured. The physiological process of self-pruning is replaced by manual pruning.

Exploring Patients’ Profiles Associated With the Resolution of Acute Calcium Pyrophosphate Arthritis Treated With Colchicine and Prednisone: Post Hoc Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The objective was to identify factors determining acute arthritis resolution and safety with colchicine and prednisone in acute calcium pyrophosphate (CPP) crystal arthritis. Methods We conducted a post hoc analysis of the COLCHICORT trial, which compared colchicine and prednisone for the treatment of acute CPP crystal arthritis, using a ...

Digital Discovery of Synthesizable Metal−Organic Frameworks via Molecular Dynamics‑Informed, High‑Fidelity Deep Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Tabular foundation model interrogates the synthetic likelihood of metal−organic frameworks. Abstract Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are celebrated for their chemical and structural versatility, and in‑silico screening has significantly accelerated their discovery; yet most hypothetical MOFs (hMOFs) never reach the bench because their synthetic ...

Factors affecting branch wound occlusion and associated decay following pruning – a case study with wild cherry (Prunus avium L.)

open access: yesAnnals of Silvicultural Research, 2016
Pruning wild cherry (Prunus avium L.) is a common silvicultural practice carried out to produce valuable timber at a veneer wood quality. Sub-optimal pruning treatments can permit un-occluded pruning wounds to develop devaluing decay.

Microneedle‐Based Biofertilizer Delivery Improves Plant Growth Through Microbiome Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This figure shows how microneedles are used to deliver biofertilizers to enhance plant growth through microbial migration, metabolic reprogramming, and changes in plant endogenous microbiome. Abstract This study presents a microneedle‐based system for the delivery of rhizospheric biofertilizers into plant tissues to enhance growth.

Effect of pruning treatment on the growth of woody pioneers under exclosure management in Tigray, Ethiopia

open access: yesForest Science and Technology
Pruning is a widely applied silvicultural practice that can enhance woody plant growth and improve exclosure productivity. This study quantified the effects of pruning intensity on growth, biomass accumulation, seedling regeneration, and grass cover in ...

PRELIVE: A Framework for Predicting Lipid Nanoparticles In Vivo Efficacy and Reducing Reliance on Animal Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
PREdicting LNP In Vivo Efficacy (PRELIVE) framework enables the prediction of lipid nanoparticle (LNPs) organ‐specific delivery through dual modeling approaches. Composition‐based models using formulation parameters and protein corona‐based models using biological fingerprints both achieve high predictive accuracy across multiple organs.

FlexiPrune: A Pytorch tool for flexible CNN pruning policy selection

open access: yesSoftwareX
The application of pruning techniques to convolutional neural networks has made it possible to reduce the size of the model and the time required for inference. However, determining the best pruning policy, i.e.
