Efficacy and field safety of ilunocitinib for the control of atopic dermatitis in client-owned dogs: A multicentre, double-masked, randomised, placebo-controlled clinical trial. [PDF]
Background – Inhibition of the Janus kinase (JAK) pathway is a well‐established option for canine atopic dermatitis (cAD). Objective – To evaluate the efficacy and safety of ilunocitinib, a novel JAK inhibitor for the control of pruritus and skin lesions in client‐owned dogs with cAD.

Comparative efficacy and safety of ilunocitinib and oclacitinib for the control of pruritus and associated skin lesions in dogs with atopic dermatitis. [PDF]
Background – Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKi) have been shown to reduce pruritus and improve associated inflammatory skin lesions in canine atopic dermatitis (cAD). Objective – To evaluate the efficacy and safety of ilunocitinib, in comparison to oclacitinib, for the control of cAD in a randomised, blinded trial.

Efficacy of Der f 2/Zen 1-LAMP1 Plasmid-Based Vaccine Immunotherapy in Dogs With Atopic Dermatitis: A Proof-of-Concept Study. [PDF]
Background: DNA‐based vaccination rapidly induces strong cellular and humoral immune responses, which may be enhanced by inclusion of lysosomal‐associated membrane protein‐1 (LAMP). Objectives: This proof‐of‐concept study evaluated the efficacy and safety of a Der f 2/Zen 1‐LAMP‐based DNA vaccine immunotherapy in client‐owned dogs with nonseasonal AD ...

Transcriptomic profiling of dorsal root ganglia in atopic and healthy dogs: A comparative RNA sequencing study with implications in cutaneous itch research. [PDF]
Background – Itch is a common symptom in skin disorders. While the neural pathways of itch transmission from the skin to the brain are well‐understood in rodents, the same pathways in dogs remain unclear. The knowledge gap hinders the development of effective treatments for canine itch‐related disorders.

Cutaneous epitheliotropic T-cell lymphoma in a sugar glider (Petaurus breviceps). [PDF]
A 3‐year‐old male sugar glider presented with pruritus and alopecia primarily affecting the back and neck regions. Dermatologic diagnostics ruled out common causes. Skin biopsies revealed cutaneous epitheliotropic T‐cell lymphoma, a rare condition in sugar gliders. Despite treatment, the glider's condition worsened, leading to death.

Prurido: da etiopatogénese ao tratamento [PDF]
EnglishItching is a common symptom, affecting up to 38% of the population at some point in life and being a frequent motive of dermatology consultation. Although being multifactorial, many aspects of its pathophysiology continue to be elucidated. Its etiology is variable (hepatic and/or renal diseases, senile pruritus, …), so a complete anamnesis ...

Randomised, Double-Blinded, Placebo-Controlled Challenge Test With Single Food Items in Dogs With Atopic Dermatitis and Adverse Food Reactions. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Background Identification of offending foods in dogs with adverse food reactions is usually based on “deterioration” during open food challenges. Objectives To examine the placebo effect during double‐blinded, placebo‐controlled food challenges using a predefined set of criteria for relapse.

Effect of Gabapentin Administered With Prednisolone, Ciclosporin or a Placebo on Clinical Outcomes and Motor Activity in Cats With Atopic Skin Syndrome: A Prospective, Blinded, Placebo-Controlled Study. [PDF]
Background: Gabapentin reportedly decreases central sensitisation, a disorder associated with chronic pruritus in humans, although this is not well documented in cats. Its combined use with the standard antipruritic therapy for feline atopic skin syndrome (FASS) is not yet described.
