Transcriptomic profiling of dorsal root ganglia in atopic and healthy dogs: A comparative RNA sequencing study with implications in cutaneous itch research. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Dermatol
Background – Itch is a common symptom in skin disorders. While the neural pathways of itch transmission from the skin to the brain are well‐understood in rodents, the same pathways in dogs remain unclear. The knowledge gap hinders the development of effective treatments for canine itch‐related disorders.

Cutaneous epitheliotropic T-cell lymphoma in a sugar glider (Petaurus breviceps). [PDF]

open access: yesVet Dermatol
A 3‐year‐old male sugar glider presented with pruritus and alopecia primarily affecting the back and neck regions. Dermatologic diagnostics ruled out common causes. Skin biopsies revealed cutaneous epitheliotropic T‐cell lymphoma, a rare condition in sugar gliders. Despite treatment, the glider's condition worsened, leading to death.

Randomised, Double-Blinded, Placebo-Controlled Challenge Test With Single Food Items in Dogs With Atopic Dermatitis and Adverse Food Reactions. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Dermatol
ABSTRACT Background Identification of offending foods in dogs with adverse food reactions is usually based on “deterioration” during open food challenges. Effect of Gabapentin Administered With Prednisolone, Ciclosporin or a Placebo on Clinical Outcomes and Motor Activity in Cats With Atopic Skin Syndrome: A Prospective, Blinded, Placebo-Controlled Study. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Dermatol
Background: Gabapentin reportedly decreases central sensitisation, a disorder associated with chronic pruritus in humans, although this is not well documented in cats. Its combined use with the standard antipruritic therapy for feline atopic skin syndrome (FASS) is not yet described.

O Prurido da Colestase

Prurido resulta de ativação direta dos nociceptores na pele em resposta à lesão tecidual e está associado à ativação dos receptores opióides no sistema nervoso central.
