The Theory of the Organism-Environment System as a Basis of Experimental Work in Psychology

open access: yesEcological Psychology, 2009
The interpretation of the organism-environment relation is central to both biology and psychology but is here usually assumed to follow the post-Cartesian paradigm whereby the organism is regarded as the active agent and the environment as something that only supports the actions of the organism or provides the basic factors for its niche.

Multimodal Imaging Reveals Rapid Catecholamine Uptake and Release by Neutrophils

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We show that immune cells (neutrophils) synthesize, uptake, and store catecholamine neurotransmitters such as dopamine or adrenaline. Paternal Caffeine Exposure Programs Offspring Stress Vulnerability via Sperm Dlk1‐Dio3 Imprinting‐Directed Remodeling of a Novel Neural Circuit

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study elucidates that paternal preconception stress can drive offspring hyperresponsivity of the stress system via hypomethylation of a specific DNA region in sperm. This key link is confirmed in a cohort of prospective fathers: the epigenetic alteration is associated with elevated stress hormone levels.
