Identification of deteriorating activity and the apr gene in the microbiota isolated from raw milk in Caxias, MA

open access: yesRevista do Instituto de Latícinios Cândido Tostes, 2020
Among milk contaminating bacteria, psychrotrophic ones stand out as the main responsible for deterioration, because they can multiply in refrigeration temperatures.

Growth of Psychrotrophic Bacteria in Solids Fortified Skim Milk

open access: yesJournal of Food Protection, 1988
The effect of fortifying skim milk with non-fat dried milk on growth and proteolysis of psychrotrophic bacteria was determined. Raw skim milk of 8.7% total solids was fortified to 10% and 12% total solids and pasteurized. Growth rates of proteolytic psychrotrophic bacteria were determined in these milks during incubation at 4°C.

Chitosan, Gelatin, Aloe vera, and Carvacrol Nanoemulsion–Based Edible Coatings: Effects on Physicochemical, Microbiological, and Sensory Qualities of Vacuum‐Packed Chicken Fillets

open access: yesFood Bioengineering, Volume 4, Issue 4, Page 612-627, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Chicken meat contains high‐quality protein and is prone to postharvest quality deterioration due to high moisture and lipid content. Thus, in this study, edible coatings were developed from natural biomaterials, that is, chitosan (CH), gelatin (GL), Aloe vera gel (AVG), and carvacrol nanoemulsion (CNE), and their effects on shelf life of ...

Survival of thermophilic spore-forming bacteria in a 90+ year old milk powder from Ernest Shackelton's Cape Royds Hut in Antarctica [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Milk powder taken to Antarctica on Shackelton's British Antarctic Expedition in 1907 was produced in New Zealand by a roller drying process in the first factory in the world dedicated to this process. Thermophilic bacilli are the dominant contaminants of

Diversity and biosynthetic potential of culturable aerobic heterotrophic bacteria isolated from Magura Cave, Bulgaria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Biocapacity of bacteria inhabiting karstic caves to produce valuable biologically active compounds is still slightly investigated. A total of 46 culturable heterotrophic bacteria were isolated under aerobic conditions from the Gallery with pre-historical

Alkane hydroxylase genes in psychrophile genomes and the potential for cold active catalysis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
BackgroundPsychrophiles are presumed to play a large role in the catabolism of alkanes and other components of crude oil in natural low temperature environments.

The effect of cooling procedure on the characteristics and quality of raw milk

open access: yesMljekarstvo, 2001
Prompt cooling of the milk after milking is vital to preserve milkcharacteristics untill manufacture. The way and the speed of the cooling as well as cooling time and temperature have an important influence on physicochemical characteristics and ...
