Biochemistry of the Pteridines

Angewandte Chemie International Edition in English, 1972
AbstractBiochemical information about the ubiquitous pteridines has become generally available only within the last fifteen years. This delay can be traced to the chemical lability of these compounds and their small concentrations in organisms. New methods of isolation and isotopic techniques have provided data on the biosynthesis, anabolism, and ...

Pteridines as Pigments in Amphibians [PDF]

open access: possibleScience, 1964
Extracts of brightly colored skins from nine amphibian species were analyzed chromatographically. In yellow skin in which xanthophores predominated, relatively large quantities of sepiapterin were found, while in red skin which was laden with erythrophores, three drosopterins were most prevalent.
