The effect of gender, age, and body mass index on the medial and lateral posterior tibial slopes: a magnetic resonance imaging study

open access: yesKnee Surgery & Related Research, 2021
Background The posterior tibial slope (PTS) is crucial in knee joint stability and in maintaining the natural movement of the knee. An increase in the PTS is associated with various knee pathologic conditions, such as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL ...

Nucleobase Stacking Sustained by Pt−Pt Interactions

open access: yesChemistryEurope
AbstractThis article reports the use of metal–metal interactions as a way to induce nucleobase stacking in a dinucleotide chain. We synthetized and study a series of C,N‐cyclometallated platinum(II) binuclear complexes derived from 6‐phenylpurine dinucleotide 1 as proligand, and β‐diketonates, 2,2'‐bipyridines and 1,10‐phenanthroline as ancillary ...

Thermodynamics, phase transitions and Ruppeiner geometry for Einstein-dilaton Lifshitz black holes in the presence of Maxwell and Born-Infeld electrodynamics

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we first obtain the ($n+1$)-dimensional dilaton-Lifshitz black hole (BH) solutions in the presence of Born-Infeld (BI) electrodynamics.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Mitigating gas migration with eutectic bismuth alloy plugs

open access: yesPetroleum Research
Gas migration is an important concern to address in oil wells, especially in those that are to be abandoned. Stopping a gas leakage is not a simple task, and this can be particularly detrimental when setting a cement plug, as the migrated gas can ...

PT-Rotations, PT-Spherical Harmonics and the PT-Hydrogen Atom

open access: yes, 2010
We have constructed a set of non-Hermitian operators that satisfy the commutation relations of the SO(3)-Lie algebra. It is shown that this operators generate rotations in the configuration space and not in the momentum space but in a modified non-Hermitian momentum space.

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Epigenetic changes produced in women victims of intimate partner violence: A systematic review

open access: yesWomen's Health
Background: Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a prevalent form of violence against women that encompasses physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, as well as controlling behaviors by intimate partners, and predisposes the victims to multiple diseases ...

The IS2 Element Improves Transcription Efficiency of Integration-Deficient Lentiviral Vector Episomes

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids, 2018
Integration-defective lentiviral vectors (IDLVs) have become an important alternative tool for gene therapy applications and basic research. Unfortunately, IDLVs show lower transgene expression as compared to their integrating counterparts. In this study,

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
