In this article, we introduce a new and general privacy framework called Pufferfish. The Pufferfish framework can be used to create new privacy definitions that are customized to the needs of a given application. The goal of Pufferfish is to allow experts in an application domain, who frequently do not have expertise in privacy, to develop rigorous ...

Trends in Molecular Medicine, 2001
Following completion of the Drosophila genome sequence, and a full draft of the human genome, the Department of Energy's Joint Genome Institute (CA, USA) has instigated a consortium to generate a complete genome sequence for the pufferfish Fugu rubripes.

Quality not quantity: the pufferfish genome
Human Molecular Genetics, 1996The genome of the pufferfish, Fugu rubripes (Fugu) is compact. With a similar gene complement to mammals and a genome size of just 400 Mb, gene density is high averaging one every 6-7 kb. Initial characterization of this genome has shown that although genes are much smaller and more densely spaced, their intron/exon structure is conserved with the ...

Proceedings of the ACM Symposium on Cloud Computing, 2019
Data-intensive applications often suffer from significant memory pressure, resulting in excessive garbage collection (GC) and out-of-memory (OOM) errors, harming system performance and reliability. In this paper, we demonstrate how lightweight virtualization via OS containers opens up opportunities to address memory pressure and realize memory ...

Invasion of the toxic pufferfish
New Scientist, 2018An invasive pufferfish is causing havoc for Mediterranean fishers, and the toxin it carries is turning up in native shellfish. The silver-cheeked toadfish (Lagocephalus sceleratus) is native to the Pacific and Indian Oceans. It has thrived in the Mediterranean since arriving this century, apparently via the Suez Canal.

Cytogenetic Analysis of the Pufferfish Tetraodon Fluviatilis (Osteichthyes)
Chromosome Research, 2000Because of their compact genome, pufferfish (Tetraodontiformes) have been proposed as a model for the study of the vertebrate genome. The genome of pufferfish is peculiar as it has the structural complexity of the genomes of higher vertebrates, but has small introns and lacks large clusters of highly repetitive sequences.
