Numerical and Analytical Study on the Pull-in Instability of Micro-Structure under Electrostatic Loading

open access: yes, 2006
The one-mode analysis method on the pull-in instability of micro-structure under electrostatic loading is presented. Taylor series are used to expand the electrostatic loading term in the one-mode analysis method, which makes analytical solution ...

Pull-In and Snap-Through Analysis of Electrically Actuated Viscoelastic Curved Microbeam

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Microbeams are key elements in most of the micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS). Electromechanical instability of microbeams in turn plays an important role in their applications.

Investigating of size-dependent buckling and instability caused by support forces and electrostatic field in porous annular microplates [PDF]

open access: yesمهندسی مکانیک شریف
In this paper, the static behavior, instability and buckling in porous micro plates under electrostatic field are investigated based on the modified couple stress theory and with regard to modeling, determining equations and solution methods.

Comparing Push and Pull Factors Affecting Migration

open access: yesEconomies, 2022
The purpose of this research was to conduct a comparison of the push and pull factors affecting migration between Poland and Romania. The study aimed to find out which among the push and pull factors have a greater effect overall and individually on the ...

Push–pull farming systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Farming systems for pest control, based on the stimulo-deterrent diversionary strategy or push–pull system, have become an important target for sustainable intensification of food production.

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Wrinkling and pull-in instabilities of circular dielectric elastomer actuators [PDF]

open access: yesSCIENTIA SINICA Physica, Mechanica & Astronomica, 2011
When subject to an electric field, a dielectric elastomer (DE) deforms, possibly straining over 100%. Due to their distinctive mechanical properties, the DEs are being developed as actuators for broad applications, such as armaria, adaptive optics, and robots.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
