Materiales Compuestos ligeros basados en yeso con refuerzo de fibra de cascarilla de arroz y poliestireno

open access: yesInformador Técnico, 2016
Gypsum matrix composites were made with rice husk and polystyrene particles in order to obtain lightweight materials. The composites were mechanically characterized, and morphologically analyzed by Scanning Electron ...

Evaluation of Bond Properties of a Fabric-Reinforced Cementitious Matrix for Strengthening of Concrete Structures

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In the present study, pull-out and pull-off tests were conducted to examine the bond strength between an inorganic cement adhesive (hereinafter referred to as the “matrix”) and a textile, which composed a fabric-reinforced cementitious matrix (FRCM). The

Aggregate effect on the concrete cone capacity of an undercut anchor under quasi-static tensile load [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In the last decades, fastening systems have become an essential part of the construction industry. Post-installed mechanical anchors are frequently used in concrete members to connect them with other load bearing structural members, or to attach ...

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Single-fiber pull-out from a microcomposite test

open access: yesComposites Science and Technology, 1993
Abstract Technical details and statistical analysis methods for a new fiber pull-out technique, single-fiber pull-out from a microcomposite, are discussed. The technique has been proved to be a versatile tool for the study of fiber/matrix interfacial properties for various fiber/matrix systems. The specimen geometry can be controlled by adjusting the

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Testing $\Lambda$CDM at the lowest redshifts with SN Ia and galaxy velocities

open access: yes, 2017
Peculiar velocities of objects in the nearby universe are correlated due to the gravitational pull of large-scale structure. By measuring these velocities, we have a unique opportunity to test the cosmological model at the lowest redshifts.

Construction and testing of self-drilled soil nails [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Current standards and best practice guidance recognise that testing of self-drilled hollow bar soil nails can be problematic as conventional packers and debonded lengths cannot be constructed.
