A comprehensive review on grain legumes as climate‐smart crops: Challenges and prospects

open access: yesEnvironmental Challenges, 2022
Global food production needs to be doubled by 50% by the middle of 21st century to ensure the food and nutritional security for 9 billion people explicitly in the challenging scenarios such as land degradation, water scarcity and environmental pollution.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Characterisation of the α-GOS profile of field pea and cowpea cultivars and their modulation through sustainable processing methods

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems
α-galactooligosaccharides (α-GOS) are a class of non-nutritional compounds present in pulses. These carbohydrates are associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Pulsed Interleaved Excitation [PDF]

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 2005
In this article, we demonstrate the new method of pulsed interleaved excitation (PIE), which can be used to extend the capabilities of multiple-color fluorescence imaging, fluorescence cross-correlation spectroscopy (FCCS), and single-pair fluorescence resonance energy transfer (spFRET) measurements.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Identification of stable resistant wild pigeonpea donors to multiple predominant bruchid species in India

open access: yesScientific Reports
Identifying stable-resistant sources offers an eco-friendly and sustainable insect management strategy. Sixty-eight wild pigeonpea accessions were systematically screened against three predominant bruchid species (Callosobruchus analis, C.

Physiological Traits for Shortening Crop Duration and Improving Productivity of Greengram (Vigna radiata L. Wilczek) Under High Temperature

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Greengram is an important protein-rich food legume crop. During the reproductive stage, high temperatures cause flower drop, induce male sterility, impair anthesis, and shortens the grain-filling period.

Observations of Giant Pulses from Pulsar PSR B0950+08 using LWA1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We report the detection of giant pulse emission from PSR B0950+08 in 24 hours of observations made at 39.4 MHz, with a bandwidth of 16 MHz, using the first station of the Long Wavelength Array, LWA1. We detected 119 giant pulses from PSR B0950+08 (at its

Divided-pulse lasers [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2014
We demonstrate the use of coherent division and recombination of the pulse within an ultrafast laser cavity to manage the nonlinear phase accumulation and scale the output pulse energy. We implement the divided-pulse technique in an ytterbium-doped fiber laser and achieve 16 times scaling of the pulse energy, to generate 6 nJ and 1.4 ps solitons in ...
