Cavitation measurements on a pump-turbine model
When a hydraulic turbine is operated at off-design conditions, cavitation on the runner and other machine parts can occur. Vibration, noise and erosion caused by cavitation can damage the turbine and lead to a limitation of the operational range. To avoid damage of the turbine, it is fundamental to get knowledge of the presence of cavitation.

Automated Process Optimization in a Novel Triple Shaft Mixer with Adaptive Mixing Modes
A novel multi‐purpose mixer with adjustable blade angle and a coaxial stirrer is developed, providing three degrees of freedom. An optimization strategy is integrated to autonomously identify optimal operating conditions through automated tests. The current draw of the main stirrer serves as the optimization criterion, while stirrer speeds, directions,

Flow characteristics analysis of an extra–high–head pump–turbine with splitter–blades under high pressure-pulsation condition [PDF]
The new energy system aims to provide reliable, affordable and sustainable energy, and ultimately achieve carbon neutrality. But the unstable renewable energy sources including wind and solar increase the risk to the grid and the power system. The pumped–

Failure investigation of a large pump-turbine runner [PDF]
A failure investigation was conducted on a high-pressure machine with a large pump-turbine runner that was 2.9 m in diameter and had a maximum discharge rate of 32 m 3 /s. A part of the runner broke off during operation. This released a piece of the crown, which went through the machine, causing further damage. An analysis of the broken runner revealed

This study demonstrates the feasibility of an underground closed‐loop thermal storage facility at a post‐mining site, intended for seasonal heat energy storage. Its principal design shows water flow directions in winter and summer (1, 2), heat pumps (3), an upper water reservoir (4), and connecting pipes (5).
