The Effects and Mechanisms of Pomegranate on Regulating Lipid Metabolism

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
This study established a high‐fat diet‐induced hyperlipidemia rat model to investigate the lipid‐lowering effects of pomegranate. Pomegranate intervention significantly reduced serum total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), and low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL‐C) levels, while alleviating hepatic steatosis by decreasing liver weight and fat ...

Phytochemical‐Based Strategies for Lung Cancer: Clinical Insights Into Pleiotropic Molecular Signaling and Therapeutic Roles

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, Volume 40, Issue 4, Page 2003-2024, April 2026.
Lung cancer (LC) remains the leading cause of global cancer‐related death. Phytochemicals from medicinal plants are increasingly being considered as potential LC treatment agents due to their multi‐targeted action, safety, and accessibility. These have anticancer properties by regulating key molecular signaling pathways.

Impact of Punicalagin on the Physicochemical and Structural Properties of Wheat Flour Dough

open access: yesFoods, 2019
The study explored punicalagin (PGN) as a wheat flour enhancer. The impact of PGN on the physicochemical and structural properties of wheat flour have been investigated. It turned out that PGN increased the formation time, stability, tensile resistance, extension, and viscoelasticity of the dough at the concentrations of 0.13 and 0.26 mg/g.

Dual hypopigmentary effects of punicalagin via the ERK and Akt pathways

open access: yesBiomedicine & Pharmacotherapy, 2017
Punicalagin is a phenolic compound with antioxidant properties. However, the effects of punicalagin on melanin synthesis have been poorly evaluated. Therefore, we investigated the effects of punicalagin on melanogenesis in Mel-Ab cells. Punicalagin significantly inhibited melanin synthesis in a dose-dependent manner.

In vitro steatosis hepatic cell model to compare the lipid-lowering effects of pomegranate peel polyphenols with several other plant polyphenols as well as its related cholesterol efflux mechanisms

open access: yesToxicology Reports, 2014
This study was aimed to compare the relative activities of the purified pomegranate peels polyphenols (PPPs) with some other plant polyphenols including punicalagin, ellagic acid, gallic acid, phlorizin, and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) on the lipid ...

Punicalagin Protects Ram Sperm from Oxidative Stress by Enhancing Antioxidant Capacity and Mitochondrial Potential during Liquid Storage at 4 °C

open access: yesAnimals
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of punicalagin, an antioxidant, on ram sperm quality. Semen samples were collected and pooled from five rams, then diluted using a Tris-based diluent containing various concentrations (0, 5, 15, 30 and ...
