Cardioameliorative effect of punicalagin against streptozotocin-induced apoptosis, redox imbalance, metabolic changes and inflammation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The effect of punicalagin on metabolic risks, oxidative stress, inflammation, cardiac apoptosis and histopathological alterations in experimentally induced diabetes was addressed. Diabetes was induced in male rats by a single injection of streptozotocin (

Harnessing Natural Compounds in Psoriasis: Targeting Cellular Pathways for Effective Therapy

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, Volume 40, Issue 8, Page 4759-4791, August 2026.
Natural compounds act on key cellular pathways in psoriasis by suppressing keratinocyte hyperproliferation, modulating Th17/IL‐17‐mediated immune responses, and reducing oxidative stress. These multi‐target effects highlight their potential as safer adjunctive therapies alongside conventional treatments.

Pomegranate Peel Polyphenol Extract Ameliorates Hyperuricemia by Inhibiting Uric Acid Synthesis and Reabsorption

open access: yesChemical Biology &Drug Design, Volume 108, Issue 2, August 2026.
The graphical abstract illustrates the action mechanisms through which PPE alleviates HUA by inhibiting XOD activity, and by suppressing the PI3K‐AKT signaling pathway to downregulate the expression of the urate reabsorption transporters URAT1 and GLUT9, thereby promoting renal UA excretion and attenuating renal injury.

Evaluation of Punicalagin Niosomes for Skin Aging

open access: yes, 2021
Skin aging is one of the most common problems facing humanity. It occurs because of altering the balance between free radicals and antioxidants and increasing the amount of the reactive oxygen species (ROS) in skin cells, which leads to oxidative stress especially when exposed to UV radiation. Antioxidants can neutralize the harmful effects of ROS, and
